Do you believe that a couple of dozen nukes falling in American cities is a price worth paying, in order to defend teeny-weeny Estonia? Or should NATO limit itself to defending high value NATO nations?

Most NATO countries are socialist enclaves and anti American.

If we along with other NATO member states can not meet our treaty obligations, then they mean nothing. Of course we honor our treaty commitments. It is why NATO was established. An attack against one is an attack against all.

There’s no distinction to be made, as far as I’m concerned. A NATO member is a NATO member, and if they’re attacked, we’re obligated to defend them as any other. There are no throwaway members.

It’s not necessary to go to war when you’re dealing from a position of strength. A strong America that would want to forestall Russian aggression by pre-positioning forces in Estonia... a NATO ally. You either support the mutual defense agreement of NATO or you don’t.

If NATO does not defend its members and allies, then NATO will have been shown to be worthless and will collapse. There is a relatively simple way to counter Russian menaces against Ukraine and the Baltic republics: give Poland a couple of hundred nuclear weapons and medium range missile delivery systems.

We need to take back the United States first and then worry about countries in our own back yard, like Venezuela, next, before we get to Russia’s Near Abroad.

Estonia isn’t a priority of US security, not while the Tea Party remains a threat. Obama knows who his enemies are, and which ones he has to destroy.

If we made the promise, we keep the promise. One nation, one city, one soldier, one civilian. They’re all worth going to war over in defense of.

It would probably be cheaper to issue the Estonian’s immigration visas.

Historically we do not join world wars until they’re at least two years old. So, no, we won’t go to war for Estonia, though we may eventually go to war for Germany (ironically enough).

I just skimmed the wikipedia entry for Estonia.

Not only should we honor our NATO obligation to them,
imho we should invite Estonia to be the 51st state.

Or perhaps kick out Illinois and make Estonia the 50th state.

Should America let its bloated communist cities get nuked as a result of destabilizing Christian Russia and her allies? That's how the Ruskies see it. They count the number of mercenaries and cash dollars employed against them whilst we watch Fox news deliver propaganda about fake Russian troop build ups in Ukraine.

Death by stupidity. That's us.

We should either defend, or end NATO. Because the alliance is worthless unless every member is defended. It’s gotta be all or nothing. We need to make up our minds.

The answer to your offensive rhetoric is YES!

Why should size matter? Is Finland large enough? Sweden? Poland? Are you OK if we cede New Mexico to Mexico, but not California? OK if Russia invades “tiny” Alaska?

These people were enslaved by the Russians, and their ethnic Russians were installed there, given stolen property that has never been restored to the true owners. They Russians also happen to be the main source of crime, social problems, and socialist voting.

The President should announce that he’s sending 500,000 rifles, and 500,000,000 rounds of ammo, and offer any help to train the populace to provide an armed militia. Estonia is asking for US troops. Move a bunch there from Germany.

The thought that Russia would launch nukes on the US if we defended Estonia is ridiculous to say the least, simply for fear of the retaliatory strike. Having said that, the question is whether we should fight Russia in Europe or wait until Russia has gobbled up all of their land, population, and production capacity and believes itself strong enough, perhaps after making a treaty with China, to make war on the US and Canada here in North America. Take your pick, sooner or later that choice will have to be made.

Its like a herd of lambs trying to appease the wolves with each lamb secretly hoping to be the last one eaten. Of course we should go fight in Europe, we’re not defending Europe at that point, we’re defending ourselves; while just using Europe as the battlefield, again. We all must understand that Russia’s target is not Europe. Europe is just a means to an end, which is destroying the US. I cannot say whether Estonia would or should be the tripwire, but most certainly by the time Russia gets to Poland it should be. We’re going to have to fight the Bear and the Dragon at some point, we should choose battlefields as far away from the US as possible. This is the lesson of history I hope our political leaders have not forgotten.

Nothing here to worry about. Estonia is just another “red line” country. We’ll just draw another red line and relax. Is there anything worth fighting for anymore? I think the era of being the world’s policeman and The American Century is over. We have to get our own house in order first, we have to put an end to this destructive regime we have and get us back on our feet.

Was in Estonia last summer. Per our guide, Estonians have embraced capitalism and especially home ownership. Their former President resided and studied in America for many years. Consider Estonia to be a bright spot in the former Eastern Bloc. It would be a shame to let them be gobbled up and, I believe, a forerunner to more countries being taken over. Seems to me we have an excellent example of allowing such behavior and the results thereof in WWII.
