Fixed it for ya -
We have laws against Holocaust denial in Canada. IMHO, they are worse than useless. We were able to expel a crank, who almost no one took seriously. Meanwhile, university campuses are rife with anti-antisemitism, disguised as anti-Israeli policies. Nothing is being done to the bigoted student activists, nor their faculty enablers. It’s against the law to quibble about the numbers killed in the Holocaust (as if there were any acceptable number) — but, quite legal to call for the expulsion of Israeli academics (and worse).
We might be to blame for the precedent. This has been the law in Germany for many years, possibly since our post-war occupation.
Europe has their idiots, and we have ours (truthers, Moon landing deniers). Its a cross that a free/open society has to bear.
“The State Duma of Russia took the right step.”
I don’t agree with people who deny the holocaust but I also don’t agree with the idea of putting them into a re-education camp, AKA a prison.
Win their minds with words, don’t bludgeon them into submission!
If only the crimes of the Soviets were published as loudly and long.
No restrictions on speech are lawful in my opinion. It’s the hilltop of a long fall.
You're right, Fascism, Nazism and Communism have no place in the civilized world.

-Ism's in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an -ism, he should believe in himself. I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me." Good point there. After all, he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. I'd still have to bum rides off people.
I know the arguments in support of this kind of repression of free speech - they are listed here by others in this thread but I think they are both wrong and counter productive.
Thanks goldstategop. Peace offensive ping. Here’s part of the bio of Putin’s hero, Stalin:
https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/History/Human_Rights/plot.html
Shortly before he died on March 5, 1953, Soviet dictator Josef Stalin accused nine doctors, six of them Jews, of plotting to poison and kill the Soviet leadership. The innocent men were arrested and, at Stalin’s personal instruction, tortured in order to obtain confessions. “Beat, beat, and again beat,” Stalin commanded the interrogators.
Why should an opinion ever be illegal?
