I found the answer to our problem with Democrats..

Liberal = The political form of Münchausen syndrome by proxy..

Whitehausen Syndrome by Promise, a behavior pattern in which a person posing as a caregiver deliberately exaggerates, fabricates, and/or induces physical, psychological, behavioral, and/or mental health problems in those who are in their care. With deception at its core, this behavior is an elusive, potentially lethal.. Got it?

Whew.. Now that we have identified the malady, maybe now we can find a cure..

"These liberals are the ones who demand we double energy prices and trade in our cars for seats on scuzzy busses driven by union drones because of global warming. The fact that it never actually gets any warmer won’t stop a liberal from hopping into his private jet and flying off to ink a deal to sell his network to some Mideast oil sheik for a zillion petro dollars."

What is a liberal? Psychology precedes and trumps ideology. People with a low sense of self (which is set in childhood and takes great effort to change) fear freedom as it means free to fail as well as to succeed. They see themselves and many others (similarly wounded souls) as victims—and therefore still others as causative agents for creating victims. The “oppressors” (at different times and places they have been Jews, Christians, whites, the rich, 1%ers, etc.) are to be despised. Theirs is a personal and worldview of being unhappy with self for feeling inadequate (low self-love, low self-esteem), fearing the concept of freedom as a tenet of this country and wanting it reduced, and desiring punishment for those people who are happy in their own skins or who can be cast as oppressors. Such a person will tend to want to address this feeling and view by surrendering freedom to obtain a greater equality of state (feeling “if all are equal, I am not less”) while also treating the “oppressors” differently (unequal treatment—punishment—is non-rationally desired despite the desire for equality of state).
By growing the State (to reduce freedom and punish “oppressors”) they also gain a caring, nurturing parental figure (the Fatherland, the Motherland, Big Brother, the State, the Federal Government) that will provide for them in ways their real parental figures did not in their childhood.
That is the core psychology and motivation for a significant segment of the population (historically, nationally and worldwide). With that psychology, an ideology can be chosen. At different times and places different ideologies will be chosen for cultural/societal reasons (liberalism, socialism, communism, fascism, nazism, statism, progressivism, etc.), but at core they are all the same with a common underlying, psychological motivation. So “what is a liberal?” A psychologically needy, non-rational person, with a low sense of self, wanting to control others in compensating for a lack of control of self, wanting to surrender freedom for an ever larger more intrusive federal government, wanting government to treat people unequally—punishing some—in an attempt to achieve a greater equality of state, and who chooses the label “liberal” because—in their personal time, place and community—that label provides them the best sense of inclusion (or least sense of exclusion). The definition of a socialist, communist, fascist, nazi, progressive, etc. is basically the same as it grows from the same psychology.
