If Pat gets jury duty she simply MUST log onto Free Republic, legally or NOT, and discuss the merits of the case here on the Sunday thread so we can debate her decisions.

It’s simply our way!

I don’t either and don’t plan on visiting any of the Mary Jane stores in the near (or distant) future.

You are oh so correct about the revenue stream and the red tape! The powers that be are still trying to figure some things out that are coming up that they didn’t think of (so what else is new).

Read today that the gigantic solar panels they put in the desert is generating so much heat it’s frying the birds that fly over it!....this after years of Enviroweanies “testing” everything concerning building these and determining it’s ‘safety’ to wildlife and the environment over all!

If you haven’t been to the Seattle area, you may not know that we literally have TONS of trees (lots of pine, fir and others) almost everywhere. While we don’t get snow or a really heavy ice here often, when we do it can be a nightmare in certain areas with power and/or phone lines.

In this area, it’s not just the citizens that may have planted trees - the city and county plant some and some have been here for many years (developments and homes are built around them); and, there are ordinances wrt removing trees (you have to get approval - yes, on your own property, due to Democrat rule of councils, etc.).

I’ve seen trucks with lifts out on some of the more major (and some not so major)roads doing tree trimming. I’m sure taxpayers are paying for that, too; but, I suspect that in the long run it’s less expensive to do that preventative care rather than try to fix the lines when tree branches bring them down.

As a side note, we have buried lines where I live and when we had really heavy snow storms and cold for about a week (fairly unusual for our area) a few years back, I was without power for less than an hour. Some, even those not that far from me were without power for almost 2 weeks (luckily most had generators and/or wood burning fireplaces, etc.).

I also heard/read they got it resolved; however, I saw this earlier this morning (just like everything else this Admin does - a mess):

Banks warned they risk prosecution if they follow Obama admin. guidance on marijuana
The Washington Times ^ | February 14, 2014 | Valerie Richardson

Posted on Saturday, February 15, 2014 9:40:49 PM by 2ndDivisionVet

DENVER — Bankers should beware of the Obama administration’s newly issued green light for banks doing business with the legal marijuana industry, according to the head of the Colorado Bankers Association.

Memos released Friday by the Justice Department and Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network were intended to give banks leeway to open accounts for marijuana businesses in states like Colorado and Washington that have legalized retail pot. Instead, the guidance “only reinforces and reiterates that banks can be prosecuted for providing accounts to marijuana related businesses,” said the CBA in a Friday statement.

“In fact, it is even stronger than original guidance issued by the Department of Justice and the Treasury,” said CBA president and CEO Don Childears. “After a series of red lights, we expected this guidance to be a yellow one. This isn’t close to that. At best, this amounts to ‘serve these customers at your own risk’ and it emphasizes all of the risks. This light is red.”

Colorado’s first-ever legal marijuana market, which kicked off Jan. 1, has been hampered by a lack of access to bank accounts and small-business loans. Many of the state’s retail pot shops are cash-only enterprises, making them vulnerable to crime....

I know Seattle fairly well. I want people to recognize that our weird adoration of the concept of a tree has not improved our lives. Power companies have full time staffs and thousands of ‘cherry-picker’ trucks whose purpose is to keep cutting back the trees that keep growing along the same curbs where telephone poles carry power lines. The costs are in our utility bills.

We have politicians who feel comfortable telling citizens what they can eat and drink, but they don’t have the guts to say trees and power lines should not occupy the same space.

In fact, as you say, it is the opposite in a lot of localities, where private property owners cannot deal with their own trees without serious hassle.

PS: I am very grateful to live in a community with underground lines. No power failures for several years, and those only briefly.

If you have cable, turn to the cooking channel and watch Spice Goddess and Spice of Life with Bal Arneson, if you have the time. She's a lass from India who moved to America. I love Indian food and I like her. She uses Coriander a lot (powder and pod form, and there is a green Coriander and a brown Coriander-who knew?). Cumin is used in Mexican and Indian recipes. You can use it in chili. I like it on my baked chicken thighs.

Lovely post, but the average American voter is stupid. I convinced of that.

Now the banks are responsible for pot wholesalers. Are you kidding me???

If you’re interested, there’s a Drudge type website for Colorado. Pretty good site that covers the state.

Omigosh! You now did it now, AB. Brilliant thought!

Not that Sister Pat necessarily needs any assistance from us mere lay people, but that would be so fun! She could let us know if there is anyone she is having a particular issue with ‘convincing’ and you, RG, and Guido and the boys could help her convince them (LOL!). [Note to the government, Democrats, and other watchers of this thread - - this is a joke, only a joke, we’re conservatives, we take jury duty and all our other patriotic duties very seriously]

I think most large or semi-large cities, as well as towns have at least 1 MKL Blvd, Street, Way, Ave or whatever.

I saw that, too! You also probably saw the articles within the last month or so that the windmills are killing a lot of Eagles.

But.....even after all of the “studying” for 5 years +/- on it, the Keystone Pipeline has still not been approved (in spite of several RR oil spills); and, forget ANWR, even though the caribou love the pipelines in Alaska and it’s in a place that would have a very small footprint and impact a very small # of people.
