I'd guess that they'd be pretty happy about that outcome, and would have no reason to off the fuehrer.
Plus with mainland Europe under his control, Hitler would have almost limitless resources to build his OWN A-bomb.
At such point, we couldn't touch him.
If we threatened to take him out with our nukes, he'd simply say, ok, if you TRY, I'll nuke the UK.
So under such a situation, I'd wager that stalemate would have been the outcome.
Mainland Europe would be Germany, and the UK would be "allowed" to live, so long as we kept to ourselves.
I imagine the scenario would be a cold war of the US vs. Hitler's Europe, instead of us vs. the Soviets.
Now, about Hitler's health, that's another scenario.
He probably wouldn't have lived that much longer after 1945.
Probably dying in the '50s.
I don't know who would have taken over the reins at that point.
“Interesting. I’ve read something similar. But IF Hitler had “won” Europe, would his generals have still tried to assassinate him?... I’d guess that they’d be pretty happy about that outcome, and would have no reason to off the fuehrer.”
They would have tried to kill him. German generals and admirals from the old aristocratic families knew him to be the evil lunatic that he was. Hitler embodied Nazism, and Nazism used cruelty and fear to remain in power. The SS was Nazism, the Wehrmacht was just German. To join the SS you had to commit a documented act of cruelty against the German people.
“Plus with mainland Europe under his control, Hitler would have almost limitless resources to build his OWN A-bomb.”
He didn’t have the scientists that we did. His best was Werner Heisenberg and Heisenberg’s group either couldn’t build a working bomb or sabotaged the effort depending on what account you choose to believe.
