Well we ought to be careful in this confusion.

A lot of liberal ethics look very similar to Christian ethics, but they have no Christ (and often put Caesar in Christ’s rightful seat).

Francis could fix this with a clarifying letter, if he was so moved. His screed could lend itself to either a Christian or a non-Christian view, if I understand the way it is now.

The ambiguity is lending itself to the worst -— every day -—

Oops. I meant #40—which you WERE replying to.

If the Pope does not already understand that if he fails to specify, WHENEVER urging concern for the poor, that he is not urging the growth of the State, then he is part of the problem—and I think it unlikely, at his age, that he going to figure it out. He will continue to (in effect) promote the growth of the State, and faithful anti-Statist Catholics will explain, again and again and again, that he didn’t SAY he wants the State to be the primary succor of the poor. Ad infinitum.

Well isn’t there an entire rest of the Roman Catholic church? Where are they in this picture?

If he`s so interested in “the poor”, then he can sell ALL the historic and artistic treasures held by the Vatican and use the money to fund his wealth redistribution. Until then he can go back to covering for serial child molesters in robes and STFU.

Here is my reply to those who suggest that certain treasures should be “sold, and the money given to the poor.”

Let’s take, e.g., the Pieta.

Someone must buy the Pieta.

Some billionaire.

Okay. Then that billionaire will be the object of complaints: He should sell the Pieta and give the money to the poor.

Ad infinitum.

The only solution to this endless conundrum is to smash the Pieta.

The fact is that the “treasures” of the Vatican are more available to the poor, and the whole public, right where they are than they would be if they were “sold, and the money given to the poor.”

I would`t give a crap and a stroke for what the Catholic church owns as long as their "dear leader" would keep his leftist nose out of our business.

Turnabout is fair play, otherwise he can just drink a big`ole glass of STFU.

BTW, as long as that hypothetical Billionaire or the church for that matter, refrain from hypocritical crocodile tears for "the poor", I could not care less if they own the Sistine Chapel or an old outhouse with next day beer splatters.

If you will look up my comments, you will see that I agree with you about the Pope’s comments on “the poor.”

Any time he talks about “the poor,” and fails to specify that he is not advocating the growth of the State, he is advocating the growth of the State.

I have no expectation that he is ever going to understand this.
