That would have been a two-for-one. The libs were expecting an apology, and they would have gotten just the opposite.

Though modern Santa definitely has Pagan elements, the key inspiration for him was the real life Greek bishop of Myra, St. Nicholas, who would leave gold coins and other trinkets in children’s shoes when he ministered that area. He’s notable or having apparently punched out a blasphemer at the Council of Nicea for suggesting that the Father and Son were not one.

Obviously not the jolly, very white, reindeer driving superhero he has become over the years, but still I encourage conservatives to tell their children about the real Santa, a very devoted Christian who brought joy to kids who were no doubt dirt poor.
