"Taking measurements live "in the field" did not appeal to the scientists, so the duo built a urination simulator."
Well, that's a relief.
Techniques to reduce splashes
- Getting as close as possible - a smooth unbroken stream is better than droplets
- Angling the stream - aiming sideways or downwards instead of straight at the toilet water/wall
- Placing toilet tissue in the bowl to soften impact
- Hydrophobic coatings for toilets
- Being a "sitzpinkler" - sitting down instead of standing

Minimizing the splash is simply a matter of the proper positioning of Jane Fonda.

Yes, a credit to the sciences; you guys can be proud of your legacy.
Were the taxpayers billed for this horse sh*t?

I wonder how much taxpayer money went for this ridiculous study?

Go for the low angle of attack edge of the bowl method.

Applied physics. I wonder whether Leonard is involved at the urging of Sheldon.

Splashback was low when the jets were used close up with a narrow "angle of attack", said the Brigham Young University team. Your tax dollars at work!

I wonder how much taxpayer money went for this ridiculous study? Was looking in the article for any mention or connection with AGW glowbull warming. Seeing none, I'll presume, for now, that no taxpayer funds were involved.

How much did we pay for this “discovery” that I (like millions of other men) personally observed several decades ago and have been practicing ever since?

I’d like research done on the proper way to shake and dance so that last drop doesn’t go in the pants.

Many of these techniques (aside from sitting down) work for controlling the amount of foam generated from pouring beer.

the splash dynamics of a simulated human male urine stream
Why did they need a simulator? I know of quite a few people who'd have been perfectly happy to volunteer for as long as the researchers provided them with free beer.

a smooth unbroken stream is better than droplets Right... How are us old guys supposed to accomplish THAT? Take Viagra around the clock?
With my prostrate, I'm happy to even have drops!
