So what? If you take a benefit from the government you should be required to pay it back if you can. It’s better that the rest of the individual’s family repay the money than putting it on the back of the taxpayers. A family should take care of their own and not ask the state to do it.
Every welfare program should be handled this way. They should keep tabs on what you’re given by the state and take it back from your assets when you die. If you don’t want to have to pay it back, then don’t ask the government for free money.
After service in WWII I worked for three employers and had health insurance with all three. We were very satisfied with coverage, costs, and care afforded. We had two children along with some personal health matters which were all handled efficiently and satisfactorily. I don’t believe we were under medicare or medicaid because these were company sponsored plans. Be that what it was my statement was an alert against going on medicaid because that step for whatever reason/purpose subjects your assets to possible government take over.
