90 files and processes load according to this article. I thin the web designers need not worry about viruses.

“But experts whom Reuters consulted believe that the architecture of the websites is fundamentally flawed and needs to be radically overhauled. For example, when individuals “apply” for coverage, the website automatically opens over 90 separate files and plugins to stream information from the user’s computer. The flood of traffic paralyzes the connection.”

Those weren’t failures. He got what he intended, which was to shovel out money to his cronies, increase the debt, and get big contributions in return.

Exactly. But with all the attention focused on the FUBAR "glitch", what worse things are they up to? Amnesty for one, but there's probably a whole host of sinister acts taking place.

This wasn’t really a no bid situation. CGI was chosen from amongst a slate of possible vendors under HHS’s version of the DHS EAGLE contracting vehicle.

The real issue here is that government contractors are under (or stick to) the GSA schedule for hourly rates. The government tends to pay 1/2 or even 1/3 what the private sector pays for comparable titles, responsibilities and duties. That means that for most larger software companies government work is a volume bases business that anchors their financials allowing them to make their revenues up with good margins for private sector work.

But it also means that they don’t put the best/brightest (read: better paid) staff onto government engagements.

So, again, nothing to really see here from a conspiracy perspective. Absolutely predictable in fact. But also really good ground on which to continue the fight against Obamacare.

DHS Eagle enables no-bid situations such as this one.

The real, real problem is the way contractors know how to stretch things out, once they’ve landed the contract, to come in five times over budget.

I hope this crap gets tossed in a hurry, however, so I don’t really care that it’s so bad as to not really be functional.

When you specifically hire a firm with a horrendous track record headed by people who destroyed the world’s largest commercial printer WTF does anyone expect.

Right now I’d be much more concerned if a site worked as more than likely it is not the official site but some ID scam artist site.

This needs to be spread rapidly on as many blogs, bulletin boards, editorials... because a scam site can immediately destroy your credit history as they will have ALL the information required to destroy you.

Sort of.

Companies had to bid to get onto EAGLE. From there they could be selected without further competition, but the gvt was still supposed to do some sort of due dilligence (market research, etc)

I think this applies here.

That’s basically just a list of the dozen largest incumbent government contractors.

If they’re not bidding on a specific project, they’re really not bidding on much of anything.

I had seen here that you were an arbiter of what was "hittable." Didn't know you knew about web development too.

You are right though, they've missed the point on CSS...by a country mile. 56 Javascript callouts on a single webpage is just ridiculous, and some of the scripts aren't even complete.

From what I've seen and heard, this thing is many months away from working.
