Not good parts of town, by any means..but nice places to stay.
And FYI....I've stayed in M-6's in cities...with good service and no problems.

Motel 6’s are mostly owned by Muslims, with rooms rented to criminals, the down and out and those on the run.
If I ever have to travel to Jackson,MS I will rent an MRAP.

With the new city government in place, it does resemble Mogadishu. I understand that they are not the same city. There are areas in Somalia that one can travel with some degree of safety. Europeans do it from time to time as do UN personnel.
Of course I was using rhetoric in my statement but what I said is far closer to reality than it is a fabrication. There are places in Jackson one cannot go into... day or night... places that the police do not venture into. It is a blight on a beautiful State.
These guys aren't looking for luxury, they just want a place to sleep. There's several cheap motels by me that get filled up with the bass guys when they come thru here in the summer for local tournaments.......
Same thing for the Gold Cup powerboat races.......
Well, the wife and I are usually out West when we vacation many times in small towns in remote areas. We occasionally stay at nice hotels around the Twin Cities and Milwaukee, and I do keep my eyes open.
That’s what I was thinking. It’s been 6-7 years since I was there but I use to stay in motels on the Interstate in north Jackson and didn’t think anything of it. Seemed like a decent part of town. Seems like I always stayed in a La Quinta or Hampton Inn, right by a Chili’s that I always got dinner at.
Texas and Mississippi reciprocate.
