The article mentions people not being able to feed their kids. That would mean they dont even keep a days worth of food on hand? Wow. They don't feed their kids themselves anyways.
We lived in a welfare town for 18 LOOOOONNNNNGGGGG years and saw it all. Those kids went hungry.
They're lying if they claim they feed their children.

That was some video. My favorite part was the angry behemoth who ranted on and on at a recording.

Valuable teaching moment here.....when the government gives, it can take away. Depend on yourself.....NOT Uncle Sams gifts by theft. Sadly, those that need the lesson wont get it, theyre too busy being outraged.
Hopefully, just hopefully, some will have the seed planted in the back of their mind and consider doing for themselves. At the very minimum perhaps they will manage the resources we give them better and keep some extra food in the pantry!

this would be a good time to overhaul the entire system and restrict the foods that can be purchased to the essentials Your sentiment has been posted on FR hundreds of times.
The reality is that the international food conglomerates, their distributors, retailers and lobbyists are dead set against that. They won't allow that to happen. They all play golf with congressman and senators.
It isn't a problem with the recipients "demanding" the fancy stuff. It is the manufacturers and sellers too comfortable with the gravy train or higher-margin items.
The reform has been attempted and failed due to the above reason.
Many recipients, if candid, will admit that it would be better if they could get only the more basic stuff (but not TOO basic -- MANY don't know how to prepare food).

Many recipients, if candid, will admit that it would be better if they could get only the more basic stuff (but not TOO basic -- MANY don't know how to prepare food). As in how do you cook dry pinto beans which I recently saw a 2lb bag for $1.40. Beans are good filling protein but is the EBT card holder edumacted enough (by her mama) to soak and cook beans?
This requires some planning such as soaking them for 12-18 hours before cooking. I'll bet that zero Hispanic women with EBT cards have a problem cooking beans and good for them!!!

Not sure it would be appropriate to admit to eating beans when you drive a nice car. /s (just in case).

Then the EBT card holder comes to a difficult crossroads. Do eat beans or do I keep my Benz...as in Mercedes Benz?

Coming to your neighborhood tomorrow?
(Excerpt from Bracken’s blog)
STEP ONE: FLASH MOB LOOTING
In my scenario, the initial riots begin spontaneously across affected urban areas, as SNAP (supplemental nutrition assistance program) and other government welfare recipients learn that their EBT cards no longer function. This sudden revelation will cause widespread anger, which will quickly lead to the flash-mob looting of local supermarkets and other businesses. The media will initially portray these food riots as at least partly justifiable. Sadly, millions of Americans have been made largely, or even entirely, dependent on government to put food on the table.

Hmmmmm...so the agitation to wrestle GOP cooperation begins...
SNA Urges Congress to End Shutdown to Protect School Meals
The School Nutrition Association (SNA), a national non-profit representing 55,000 school nutrition professionals nationwide, sent a letter to congressional leaders today urging them to end the Federal Government shutdown to ensure the availability of school meals for Americas students. Starting on November 1, school meal programs will request federal reimbursements for meals served during October, but the US Department of Agriculture has not guaranteed the availability of sufficient funds to reimburse states for all meals served in October. In fact, one state agency TEXAS has already notified local school districts that funding is only sufficient to reimburse meals served through October 4, 2013.
School meal programs depend on federal reimbursements to operate, said SNA President Leah Schmidt, SNS. If the Federal Government shutdown persists, millions of students who rely on school meals as a primary source of nutrition will suffer.

*uneducated, unemployed, not interested in changing either situation Well...I wouldn't say "not interested in changing", instead, "not motivated to change". Inculcate that into several generations, and today is the result.
