Second comment at the site says they were cooking meth, as a joke, I assume.
With all the meth lab busts in Ohio, I'm sure they've got all the equipment and chemicals stored in the basement evidence room. I could see where an incompetent tech might not have stored it properly.

Yes, according to the talking heads, they have found no damage, just people reporting a burnt black powder smell.
Someone mentioned that it may have been a distraction to busy up law enforcement while some horrible crime was being committed elsewhere.
