I recently visited an Aldi’s and cannot agree with you....their system is all about bringing the lowest prices to the consumers....including the customer returning their cart....you don’t have to....but you then will pay the quarter for not returning your cart.
I found many of their items comparable to main line stores as to quality. In fact some of it is even better imo.
I haven’t used any of their meat products as I go to a meat market I prefer. But I have not yet encountered any food that wasn’t tasty and will return to shop there.

I did say I don’t buy their meat products...and this includes prepared foods....
The store I have gone to is very clean and well kept. I seldom have seen produce as fresh and inviting in any other super market here.
I will go again. It is worth the trip and I have yet to be disappointed with any of the items I’ve purchased.
