This is the lamest stretch for justifying Trayvon Martin's assault on GZ yet - and it does so under the guise of psychology/science. I guess this "professor" is suggesting that since "the maturation of the prefrontal cortex is not achieved until about 25 years of age" (I'd like to see that on a sign at a Trayvon rally), that no person under the age of 25 is responsible for their violent crime or behavior.

Zimmerman, a 29-year-old man, possessed something — in addition to a gun — that the just-turned 17-year-old Martin did not possess — a fully developed prefrontal cortex.

In violent individuals of all ages, brain SPECT studies have identified decreased activity in the prefrontal cortex. In addition, there is often abnormal activity in the left temporal lobe which causes a "short fuse".

In other words, Zimmerman, almost twice Martin’s age, had a mature prefrontal cortex and a gun, while Martin had an immature prefrontal cortex still overruled by primitive limbic structures, a can of sweet tea, and Skittles.

A can of sweet tea??? what's your excuse, Marilee??? what happened to your prefrontal cortex???

And all this is non-scientific anyway. Sure the frontal lobe in teens doesn’t have the white matter of adults but who knows what this means when it comes to effecting behavior. Psychologists try to apply the frontal lobe not being fully developed in teens to every bad behavior for an excuse. Male teens have a lot more testosterone and that’s a main reason for aggression, add that to poor up-bringing.

The girlfriend said she told TM on the phone that Z might be “one of those” and going to rape him or follow him home and rape T M ‘s younger brother.

Rush pointed this out a week ago and no one has touched the fact that TM probably attacked Z because TM thought he was homosexual.

If Holder wants to investigate something, he can look into a homosexual hate crime.

Farmer sums up his analysis by quoting Reno attorney David Houston: “This was a case where [Zimmerman] forced a confrontation, but did what he had to do when he was attacked.”

The most that can be said is that Zimmerman carelessly increased the risk of a confrontation by failing to take Sean Noffke's advice, even though he knew the cops would arrive soon. But that's strictly hindsight. In the event, Martin confronted Zimmerman and attacked him, and Zimmerman did what he had to do. To obtain a conviction, the persecution needed to prove otherwise. They failed.

I say persecution because they knew they didn't have the evidence, yet prosecuted anyway, in cooperation with the race hustlers and the Democrat Party.

So if Farmer is suggesting that 29-year-old Zimmerman was frightened for his life, I am suggesting that 17-year-old Martin was too.

Then why didn't he just run on home?

But Zimmerman possessed all the ammunition to prevent this tragedy.

Fortunately, he did indeed.

If they really believe this is true, then raise the voting age to 25.

Sweet Little Trayvon Martin had an immature prefrontal cortex still overruled by primitive limbic structures, which (correctly) implies that he didn’t understand the gravity of the situation he created.

In a decent family, the parents (optimally two of them, married to each other, and more involved with their son’s life than with their social lives) would have taught Sweet Little Trayvon that it is wrong to beat on strangers, even creepy ones, and even crackers. In a decent culture, that family conditioning would have restrained Sweet Little Trayvon from acting like a thug controlled by his limbic system instead of like a civilized person controlled by his prefrontal cortex.

Instead, Sweet Little Trayvon was controlled by his emotions, as he was taught, and his emotions told him that interfering with the business of casing homes in Daddy’s girlfriend’s neighborhood made him angry. Trayvon didn’t like that, so he threw the last sucker punch of his life, and administered his last whooping on a weaker target. I feel sorry for Baby Trayvon who was born into such a selfish and inept family 17 years earlier, but not for the grown thug who launched an unprovoked attack. Good riddance.

The author of this steaming pile of cranial feces is a professor
of literature and writing, not a psychology professor. My oldest
took an elective class from her while attending WNC and said she
is dumber than a sack of hammers. My daughter is a grammar
nazi and KNOWS the English language and said this idiot would
flunk freshman English. Just another liberal moron hiding behind
their faux credentials.

The Zimmerman verdict sits like a stone in the guts of many Americans. We struggle to put our finger on what sickens us, but we know something feels really bad.

Most Americans have already forgotten about it...if only you lamestream pressers would allow us to keep forgetting about it!
