What they don't want, is to increase their capacity (and thus their fixed overhead) and then just when they've finished this, people decide "I have enough ammo stockpiled to last me for years now", and stop buying.
I think that part of this is people deciding to stockpile ammo at home in case the feds restrict ammo access, and part is from new gun owners needing ammo to practice with.

I mentioned: look into making primers and how to do it more effectively than current processes. I don't imagine there's a lot that bullets can be refined on, but what about casings? What about gunpowder manufacture?
If you can hit on making any of those components more effectively than current processes then because they are in demand you have an edge.
Of course this is all much easier said than done; I certainly don't have the technical expertise or financial resources to do it.

I caught the gun counter guys just as they were trying to sell the ammo to themselves. Those guys have been doing all kinds of shifty stuff during this ammo panic. I could tell they were not happy that I came by the counter at that moment.
It was fantastic. There is a 3 box minimum. So, I sent my wife and daughter in right after to me to buy some more.
My Son works close to their Jersey Village retail store.
He said you have to go by and ask for what you need and they’ll see what they have palleted in the store at the time. Reasonable pricing.
My case order of 22lr from CMP finally got shipped. It only took a couple months. They had said it might have been oct.
The main reason I have guns and ammo is the fear of lawlessness in the event of social or economic meltdown. Other threats exist but they are remote compared to the criminal threat.
The machines needed to produce .22 LR and most other calibers is NOT available for American entrepreneurs by order of the US government to Chinese Mfg company’s. I TRIED!!
For the last year or so I have been seeing large semis going by packed to capacity with pine stumps. They are always headed East and there are at least two a week.
I have no idea how gun powder is made but I do know that pine stumps are used. Before this year I had never noticed them.
I did see a Florida Transportation Cop stop one almost right in front of my house and pull out portable scales. They do appear overloaded but that might just be what it looks like.

Stock analysts have been saying, for the last 4 years, that gun buying will be stopping "soon". They have been proven wrong quarter after quarter, for years. There are so many new people into guns that the "buying" won't be stopping any time soon. The number of women now buying guns is skyrocketing.

For many folks ammo is just as important of a daily commodity as gasoline so it’s very likely to turn out to be like the gas price game; keep raising the prices until it becomes obvious the market flow has declined. A box of 22LR in early 2012 was $1.50 per 50 rounds, today it costs from $12 to $15 per 50 rounds. This proves people are willing to pay the high price, just like they did when gas went from $1.75 / gal in 2007 to today’s price of $4 / gal. Gas went close to $5 / gal at one time and market declined and then settled around $4. People felt relieved by the $1.00 dip in the price and adjusted accordingly. I could be wrong but I expect the same will happen to the ammo market.
I don't have a time machine. I have to replace the ammo I shoot today in today's world.

Nobama’s troubles is that the Military and probably the CIA are not what you would call “really on his side”.
There are just too many well armed patriotic citizens for there ever to be a shooting revolt. If the liberals keep pushing or if nobama refuses to go quietly in 16, there will likely be a relatively silent coup.
The last time I went in, the pallets were arrange in the open room of the floor in rows.

They would sell any quantity you wanted and they had. The would even sell by the individual round. They had a daily price sheet you picked up, prices were not marked on the ammo boxes.
Only the gubmit can defy supply and demand.
