Yep, same thing during the hurricane. So many people were angry with the Red Cross. OTOH, the Salvation Army would give the shirt off their back.

I give to 2 charities:

My church

St. Jude Children's Hospital.

 

Both excellent choices.

Like my DAD said about the red cross charging for do-nuts during WW-II , found out myself 25-years later they were still doing the same,

... should lose their status ‘not for profit’.
They have no profit because they suck the coffers dry with exorbitant salaries and "expenses."

My dads army unit came off the front lines in the battle of the bulge in WWII. They were shot up,starving etc ....the Red Cross tried to sell them hot coffee and a donut...they refused to pay......he never donated to them in his life...neither will I

Yep. My parents would tell about them charging for coffee in Michigan that just had a deadly tornado destroy most of a town. Think this was in the 50’s.


From what I have read on their website, seen on charity rating sites and from local news reports, Convoy of Hope out of Springfield MO is one of the better charities that about 90% is spent on helping and the rest is used for fundraising and admin costs.
