Absolutely no one I know is satisfied with the education their children are getting in public schools.

I know most are happy with their kid’s public education in Severna Park MD which is a suburb of Annapolis MD. It is a wealthier area though. I send my kid’s to St. John’s in Severna Park., MD (we live in Arnold, MD which is just down the street from Severna Park). For high school, we have 2 kids in St. Mary’s in Annapolis, MD. My wife and I cannot even trust the good public schools though.

It’s so prevalent that Texas has even set up a public online school, to cater to homeschoolers. They say it is for the kids with intense athletic training schedules, artistic lessons and health restrictions.
They even have radio commercials for it.

My wife was personally responsible for at least 4 more kids here in Idaho being pulled out of public schools next school year.

The wife of a local business owner who we have dealings with was considering homeschooling after the Common Core thing was announced, and my wife convinced her to do it.

She attended the Idaho homeschool convention with us (which just ended yesterday afternoon) and that just sealed the deal.

“Absolutely no one I know is satisfied with the education their children are getting in public schools. “

The sad thing is that every single GenWhyMe parents loves the school system. They were brainwashed into liberal thinking and believe the schools are there to socially raise their kids. They love the nanny state.

I was invited to my grandson’s “moving up” ceremony (kindergarten “graduation”) this week. The handout billed it as a “Pledge Ceremony”. So naturally I envisioned a pledge to Gaia with the green nonsense involved. Surprise!

A retired music teacher started off on the piano as everyone was gathering with some patriotic tunes, including all the armed forces songs and Eternal Father Strong to Save. The Pledge was the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by America and You’re a Grand Old Flag.

A song listed later was called “We Are A Rainbow”, but surprise again- it was not a pro-homosexual tune but seemed to refer to the varying shades of kids present.

So, not ALL the public schools are adhering to the Communist Manifesto! I’m going to reinforce them with a thank you note to the administration. Especially because of this- http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/06/08/texas-high-school-silences-valedictorian-microphone-during-speech/ and this- http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/story/22527453/sc-valedictorian-recites-lords-prayer-at-graduation . I hope they keep it up.

We need to start calling it by what it really is: Government Schooling.

Hebrew schools teach Judaism. Catholic schools Catholicism. Lutheran schools Lutheranism.

What do government schools teach?

Everyone talks about the ‘sacrifice’ of home schooling or the ‘sacrifice’ of being an at-home mother. What, exactly, is being sacrificed? A second fancy car, dinner out every week, a high-end summer vacation or camp? In most instances, the ‘sacrifice’ is material. It’s rarely the roof over the family’s head.

Families that don’t want the sacrifice to be their kids might want to look at making a go of a single income and what can be shorn from their lifestyle. They might be surprised at what they find.

FWIW......

My wife and I HS'd our two kids....from K-12. This started back in the late 80's in CA...and we finished up in OK.

It was a labor of love....

My wife of course did the most of it...I was just the Principal!! Ha!!

Anyhoo...along the way my wife wrote a children's book ( The book is a good read for adults too!! )....and has a curriculum that I think HS'ers would enjoy.

Here's her info....

She just started blogging...and getting her stuff out there.
