When Twain wrote about lake Tahoe in in 1860’s, in his book “Rouging It”, he asserts that he can see 900 ft. to the bottom and see the fish clearly. To this day you can see more clearly into lake Tahoe. Look it up.
More clearly than what? More than 900 feet?

There was a factoid on Google Earth that in 1974 the lake was only 1.7 meters deep before it started filling.
