I have never known a CPA who didn't support the Flat or Fair Tax. Tax planning is not why people hire them and it is simply a necessary annoyance.
In fact, the accounting profession has been vocal about their stance in this regard.
We I have no regard for Accountants. Maybe, I was just one case out of a zillion!
First year accountant charged 600.00! He worked from home.
2 year receipts were about same. Only thing changed was his new digs in town next to the hot shot Atty!
Now 1700.00. I said no way! He said no tax form on 4/15.
I said fine! Sent Wife to HR Block School and filed extension!
I'm inclined to agree, but with the latest outrages, the IRS should be abolished.
The flat tax has no chance of passing. Look at the people who will oppose it. You have the poor and the middle class who currently pay no income tax under the current system due to deductions and exemptions. And you have the rick and the businesses who are responsible for all those tens of thousands of pages of tax law to begin with. Whey won’t want to lose their exemptions and deductions either.
You still have to report your income and keep records. A national sales tax would be far better.
Repeal the 16th Amendment.
Abolish the IRS
Install a national sales tax collected only at the point of purchase. No deductions in order to keep the tax as low as possible.
AMEN! It is none of their damn business. A national sales tax is the solution. For one thing, people would see exactly how much they are paying to the government and would be more likely to demand value for the money.
Not only will "the poor" finally pay their "fair share" but also drug dealers, criminals and politicians.
I would also eliminate all federal taxes on everything inc. gasoline, liqueur and tobacco, etc and collect ONLY the sales tax on those items.
Works for me.
Unfortunately, it will never happen. The political elites get to buy too many votes by promisng tax breaks!
Nice chatter from Cruz, but there’s too much at stake keeping it as is.
I’ve got more questions for the IRS like how do we know that the $1.6 billion they gave out in unearned income tax refunds didn’t go to political friends of Obama?
Just today the Werfel clown admitted that it was nearly impossible to document whether those receiving the refunds didn’t receive them fraudulently. I’m not concerned about the welfare moms, they’re a problem of their own. I want to know about those who got big money refunds. I want to know if the IRS has been funneling money back to the SEIU or other unions friends of Obama.
Even a flat tax is not so good...The only fair tax is SALES tax as it is consumer driven.
You were.
No really.
A great idea.... now to get it past the Libs.....HA HA HA
At this point "I have let down symdrome" from all the hoodwinking the RINO's have
played over the last fifteen years. I hope Cruz is the real deal and doesn't get
sucked into the cesspool of the Potomac.
Sounds good to me.
I agree! Moreover, it should take a national referendum to raise the tax rate on the postcard OR any rule or regulation connected to the postcard. Number one rule should be “everybody pays”. Take politicians completely out of the whole process!
Buuuuump! Thanks for the ping!
Either flat or fair...fair or flat. But SOMETHING has to be done. There are some really good ideas here, but let’s get it moving.
And while we are at it, let’s revamp the ancient civil service system which keeps paying people who thumbed their nose at Congress and the American people (for example, Lois Lerner). Yeah, that’s it...we could call it the Fire Lois Law.
Doug Urbanski was filling in for Rush the other day and noted that ANYTHING would be better than our current system. You literally could not do worse.
We never really know what these people will morph into once they get themselves elected.
They need to know that they have to dance with the one who brought them.
In MY lifetime the most surprising political shape-shifting (and these were pleasant surprises) were the Bush Presidencies.
In the case of Sr., everyone called him a wimp and then he went to the Gulf. I think THAT entire campaign was unique in military and political history. It equals Normandy and goes beyond. It has not been credited as it ought to have been, but its significance will lose nothing in the historical accounting.
In the case of Jr., the guy everyone said had no foreign policy experience...well, HE initiated the WOT and remained steadfast in his commitment to that throughout periods of political enthusiasm AND political condemnation! His resolve was a thing of beauty!
