And what if you comply with their demands, and then they kill you anyway?
Translation from the top cop: “STOP IT!! You’re making us look bad!!!!”
DogBite,
Can’t help myself, gotta boost that poster! If you have don’t want I should do that, please let me know.
I think it’s for liability reasons the cops caution citizens against armed resistance. If the cops advocated firing upon criminals, it would be the basis for a large lawsuit.
BTW, London School of Economics is famous for turning out Socialist zombies....I know it for a fact as we have one of them in the family.
If that’s what you’re worried about as a store owner with a gun...
1. Get more range time. Lots more. Consistent shooting and firearm handling teaches confidence. You are less likely to screw up with your firearm if you are comfortable with it.
OR
2. Don’t have a gun and let the thug-of-the-month use your store as his personal ATM.
Either way, the cops really don’t care. They get the same paycheck whether you hit the bad guy or the bad guy hits you.
I have two words for you then that should calm your fears....hollow points.
Isn’t that the way Britain does it. Victims get the raw end of the stick. Come to think about it, so do the women in the moslim world.
The person is a store owner not an NYPD Cop.
“...our biggest fear is that somebody would have gotten hurt, injured and possibly even died.”
If the store owner had been a better shot, it could have been one of the thieves.
Looky here:
This ain’t nothing new or unusual. The cops in this case are just confused. I mean, the irs does this stuff every day, and good citizens don’t flash heat at them.
“Just stand still and let us fleece you, if you don’t, you’ll get shot!”
So, robbers in the street or irs agents in your cash register. What the hell is the difference?
Its easy to see why the cops would be confused.
Weapons management? She was being robbed by armed robbers, which is going to make most people’s aim shaky any way. Unless you are very well trained and very accustomed to being in violent situations, I don’t think there is any way of guaranteeing that all your shots will be on target when you open fire.
Good weapons management would be to brandish it only, or only open fire when there was a direct threat to her life, not her property.
Like I say, there was a lot of potential for this whole incident to have ended in tears by recklessly blasting away in the general direction of the robbers. I’m not being ‘statist’ here, I’m just pointing out to all you gung-ho gunslingers out there that you’d better think very carefully about when you pull the trigger. Except you won’t, because your mind will be occupied by other things at that particular moment, which is where the potential danger is...
Clearly a question posed by someone who knows nothing about carrying a gun.
In other words it is a very stupid question.
Very, VERY stupid.
YOu’re right, only cops and government officials are quailified to carry and use guns.
YOu’re on the wrong site, besides Conservative, yes we’re gun ho....and trained better than most of your government overlords.
bump
I blame part of it on the advent of no-knock “dynamic entry” tactics. When people exercise their right to keep and bear arms in defense of their homes and families, kicking someone’s door down in the middle of the night becomes a high-risk proposition.
If the store owner was a better shot she should get a commission check.
In California in 2009, it cost an average of $47,102 a year to incarcerate an inmate in state prison. From 2001 to 2009, the average annual cost increased by about $19,500.[92]
Another stupid statement.
Im just pointing out to all you gung-ho gunslingers out there that youd better think very carefully about when you pull the trigger.
As if we gun owners haven't thought of that. If you knew a single damn thing about guns or had actually ever held one in your hand you would not have ever made such an overwhelming stupid STUPID statement.
Did I mention that everything you have posted on this thread is stupid?
Have you ever even touched a real gun, in the real world, in real life?
Go back to your computer strategy games ... let the adults deal with reality.
You reckon?
