Boeing should have kept this under wraps.

Agreed. A device that can knock out the electronics on specific buildings is not something to publish for everyone to know.

Agreed too.. But 0bama can't destroy America unless our threats know more than we do. Yes, Boeing is to blame for talking about it, but 0bama has set the tone for talking about EVERYTHING which would otherwise be classified in previous administrations.
By the way, can this be countered with ordinary microwave appliances like cellphones triangulated a stealth fighter to be shot down over Bosnia?

I want some sharks with frickin’ microwaves on their heads!

Imagine if one of these things can be fired from a stealth platform

There are a couple of possibilities:
1. The wrong people already knew about this through leaks or espionage.
2. This is part of a disinformation campaign — the capabilities of the device are being inflated, to scare (say) Iran, and cause them to mis-allocate defensive resources.

If they have this weapon they had better figure out a way to shield against it, because if we can do it chances are that other countries can do it as well.
In todays world , knock out the electronics and we are helpless.

Is this like the experimental road strip device that shuts down all the electronics on cars being chased by police?

Why? It’s not like it’s breaking tech, really. Just implementation to a specific and precise missile.

This seems like the ideal auto accessory to deal with drivers who cut me off in traffic.

zapping a car in front of you seems like a not good idea.
To: neverdem
I wonder if this could take out the guidance package on an ICBM.

But what if the terrorists don't have microwaves?

what were you doing in my kitchen?

The idea may need further consideration, but I am thinking it would not usually be difficult to just go around them when their car stalls. I’m assuming they would come to a gradual stop. Would love to test it out. Seems such opportunities are quite frequent.

Some guy demonstrated how easy this was a couple years ago. He bought all the stuff at a local electronics store and used the contraption to fry electronics across the street easily.
No secrets her people, been easy to do for years.

Why do we need to know this?
Is nothing other than Obama’s college transcripts and Birth Records kept secret anymore?
