never liked the man. the fed gov hires and promotes 1000s of these shoe shine boys. a endorsement from Lowell is worth nothing except to Holders people or Bags and Alec.
I try to be fair and consider that there might be other reasons for Powell to support Obama. I can’t find one objective fact that would lead a reasonable person to say we need four more years of this!
I can only conclude race is a big factor in Powell’s endorsement. A terrible shame, I’d expected more from such a great man!
What a waste of such a great legacy!
I agree with the racism standpoint but do not overlook the $$$$$! Powell became a special partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield and & Byers (KPCB) a little less than 10 years ago. (He's now referred to as a Strategic Advisor.)
A few years after that, Al Gore became a Senior Partner there too and the VC firm began investing heavily in "green" companies.
Guess what. When 0 loses, there is no chance of Cap & Trade and the trillion dollar scam pretty much folds. I don't really trust Romney on AGW, but I know he won't force C&T through and I'm sure 0 would in a no-hold-barred second term.
This cycle, he proves he is an idiot as well.
Powell’s an attention seeker that needs to stay ‘relevant’ in the cocktail party circuit.
So he supports a LIAR.
I think he was a Republican in title only to get to where is is today but was really a Democrat all along.
That’s the quote of the day, my friend!
(When, oh when, will FreeRepublic ever give us a MEGA LIKE button???)
Cheers!
Doesn’t surprise me one bit. This guy is a bad news. Glad he is on Obama’s side and not ours. Here is a little history on the guy:

Google his name and “My Lai”.
Sorry, to me with the exception of Wesley Clarke we have had great generals. Is Powell in the top tier? Not by any stretch of the imagination.
But he was a great general, It was when the uniform came off it all changed. But that is my opinion. Personally, I think he was the fall guy when he went in front of the UN and no one from the administration defended him.
My brother is retired U.S. Army Sgt. and fought in VietNam and 1st Gulf War. Here are his sentiments on Colin Powell the first time he endorsed Obama in 2008:
HE WAS A PHONY ( POLITICIAN ) GENERAL FROM DAY ONE AND NEVER REALLY EVEN SAW ANY COMBAT IN HIS WHOLE CAREER.
HE SERVED AS AN ADVISOR TO A SMALL VIETNAMESE ARMY UNIT AS A JUNIOR OFFICER BEFORE THE WAR REALLY STARTED IN VIETNAM AND THAT WAS IT!
HE ONLY SERVED THERE A FEW MONTHS AND WENT BACK TO THE STATES BECAUSE OF A MINOR SKIN INFECTION HE GOT WHILE THERE ( SUPPOSEDLY FROM BEING INJURED BY A VIET CONG BOOBY TRAP MADE OUT OF SHARP BAMBOO STICKS ).
POWELL AND HIS DEPUTY SPENT MOST OF THEIR DAYS IN THE STATE DEPT. UNDERMINING GEORGE BUSHS FOREIGN POLICY INSTEAD OF BEING A LOYAL CABINET MEMBER, AND THAT IS WHY HE WAS FORCED OUT!!!
HE IS A SNAKE OF THE HIGHEST ORDER AND IS OBVIOUSLY LOOKING FOR A NEW POSITION IN THE OBAMA PRESIDENCY SO HE CAN REHABILITATE HIS REPUTATION.
LIKE BIDEN, HE HAS BEEN WRONG ON MOST OF THE MAJOR ISSUES OF THE DAY; INCLUDING NOT SUPPORTING GOING INTO KUWAIT IN DESERT STORM, EVEN THOUGH HE FOUND HIMSELF HAVING TO DO SO AS THE CHAIRMEN OF THE JOINT CHIEFS OF STAFF, ONCE THE DECISION WAS MADE.
HIS SUPPORT OF OBAMA IS NOTHING MORE THAN ABOUT RACE, PERIOD!!!!!
That’s Lt. Calley
He was the architech behind Bush 1 walking out of Iraq after 100 hours. When I was 17 I saw this as the second Weimar republic. We had an aggressor nation attacking its neighbors. We beat them militarily, never occupied them and merely walked away when they were no longer a current threat then left them with crippling sanctions. In 1991 I said we would be back there in 20 years. I was off by 8, but not bad for a guy who couldn’t vote. Why didn’t the Chief of staff see this?
No. It’s Powell. Google “Colin Powell My Lai”.
I think what is great about Freepers is when we make a mistake, we admit it.
My comments about Powell being one of our greatest Generals was incorrect. I was referencing back to our first foray into Iraq where I thought Powell played a major role in the strategic planning of the 100 hour ground game.
As this event will go down as one of our greatest battles (I don’t think there could be much doubt there) It was of my opinion that the Generals that ran this deserved the accolades as one of the greatest.
What I failed to realize was Powell was Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and not in the field.
So again, to any military members or others I may have offended, (Myself being military) I do apologize.
MY knowledge of Powell begins at Desert Storm and all those briefings.
Thank you GWB.
Colon Bowell was the jackass who turned squeamish upon seeing the images of the Highway of Death, and pleaded with GHWB to stop the offensive short of Baghdad.
We could have probably taken out Saddam back then, and changed the course of SW Asia.
He’s an affirmative action baby, nothing more.
“I voting fo’ Obama ‘cause he black!”
