I remember that episode with her lauding the “Academy” for breaking the barrier for awards to blacks. She wasn’t bright enough to realize it was NOT republican America that was keeping awards from blacks - it was liberal Hollywood. The same academy she congratulated was the same academy that had not previously nominated black actors. And if that wasn’t silly enough, the membership of the academy stood in raucous applause as they congratulated themselves for finally shedding their racist attitudes.

Halle, Sarah’s married to a guy who’s part Eskimo. I think she can probably live with having a black, sorry, half-black cousin.

Over the years Halle has suffered some really hard heartbreak in her life. She really doesn't have a very good record with men and as such, her emotional state has been a roller coaster, at times bordering on suicidal. I think the custody battle with Gabriel Aubry and child support ruling (paying Gabe at least $15K a month) has taken its toll on her. I know a ruling was coming soon and I don't think it is going to be 100% favorable to Halle. Most likely her comment was a “shoot from the mouth and think later” reaction because I'm sure she could name a few other previous instances in her life that were nightmare and what she would consider the worst.

Yep! Excellent point! It always amazes me how incredibly naive idiots like Berry are. That whole Hollywood scene is just completely swathed in morons, one after another after another who have absolutely no idea what the hell they are talking about. Republicans are KKK racists to them but they completely ignore or do not know that someone like Sen. Robert Byrd was an exalted cyclops in the KKK, and that Republicans from the very start of the party did everything they could to make blacks equal while Democrats fought them every step of the way, and are STILL fighting them every step of the way! I like what one Freeper said about Hollywood: The Nobel prize, the Pulitizer prize, how many children have won those awards? Zero. But children regularly win Oscars. LOL!

Right. And not to be minimized, but the advent of the labor movement in the US coincided with the end of the Civil War, when newly freed blacks migrated north to sell the only thing they had - their labor. Naturally, they were willing to take less in wages since anything in pay was more than their experience dictated. Higher-paid northerners in New York and Philadelphia realized the influx of cheap "foreign" labor would depress their wages. So they formed unions to keep blacks from competing.
