Empty Chair Outside Polling Place?

“How bout a chair in the back of a pickup, and just circle around the polling places?”

I would be concerned that a suicidal democrat terroist, aka voter might run into my pickup while I was driving.

Years ago, the rats would round up voters from halfway houses, nursing homes, drunk tanks and ? and bring them into vote.

On one election, I took my OJ Simpson Bronco and parked it about 20’ past the required distance facing away from the polls. I borrowed a range finder from a hunting relative to make sure about the distance.

Then, I lowered the tail gateand raised the overhead rear window. I had an easy chair in the back which I put on the tailgate. I climbed up and sat down with my polling info pamphlet. My camera was hanging within reach as well as my tape recorder mike.

After about 30 minutes a rat poll watcher came out and told me to leave. I told him to call the cops and let them make the decision. I took his picture as he came up and informed him he was being taped.

He left, and about 30 minutes a cop came up. He asked me if I knew the distance I should be parked from the polls, and I asked him if he knew. I took his picture and informed him that my tape recorder was on. He told me, and I handed him the range finder. He checked and said that I was legal.

Then he asked what I was doing. I asked him what he thought I was doing.

He grinned and went back to the polling site and went inside. Later a few minutes later, he and an unhappy rat poll watcher came out. As the cop was leaving, I hollered, “Have a good day!” He smiled and did the same.

The poll watcher came over and tried to union thug me. I reminded him that my tape recorder was on. As he walked away, I said, “Hopefully, you guys will make my day with several vans of rounded up voters!”

He gave me the Italian salute, and I focused my camera on he and his finger and said, “Smile, you are on Candid Camera.”

The next few hours were uneventful, and my buddy, Bubba came up in his red Chevy Pickup with a chair in the truck bed. I pulled out of the parking spot, and he took my spot.
He got out with his camera and tape recorder.

I drove down and parked in the voting parking places and got out. The thug glared at me, and asked what I was going to do. I took another picture and reminded him that I was going in to vote after studying my voter’s guide. I told him that if he interferred, I would make a citizen’s arrest.

He backed away. As I was handed my ballot the 80+ year of female rat volunteer poll worker, said he is a Republican. This was a general election, and that was innappropriate. As I voted, I watched her and her cohort put a ballot handed to them under the ballot box from another Republican announced voter. I woke up the Repubie poll watcher and got him involved, and the ballots put back into the ballot box.

The female rat and her coworker have sinced passed on and not messing with our votes. They are probably still voting.

I never saw the union thug again, and I never saw him befor the confrontations.

We now vote via absentee ballots.

I’ve been voting for almost 50 years and have never missed an election or primary. I’ve also worked for several candidates over the years that required visiting some precients and driving by others on election day. It is not uncommon to see an empty chair beside the door, I have seen them used to prop a door open, I hope this practise continues
