I’ll just say this - post first-debate, I like him a lot better than I did previously. Same with his pick of Ryan - a very positive move.

He ain’t perfect, but he’s better than I thought of him during the primary.

Colofornian, answer my question, I asked a few times but you’ve ignored me. Will you be voting for Obama?

You spend your time here on Free Republic trashing Romney and the Mormon Church and it’s becoming ugly, yet you you never post who you are FOR.

Are you a conservative or just a Mormon hater?

I was for Cain, and negative about Romney. But as I did more research on him, I liked him better. He has good organizational skills, good morality, a family man, and seems to have the ability to work with divergent groups.

I think he will bring in a competent administration. He will try to work with the Dims(almost impossible). He understands business and what it takes to be successful.

I didn’t realize that you were the arbiter of the criteria for whether or not someone is a serious candidate. Now that I know your position, I will of course seek out your judgment before offering my opinion or support for the candidate of my choice.

Thank you for the correction.

Nope. In fact, statements by Romney during the campaign and post primary have confirmed to me that I was right in not supporting him then or now. I will not vote for any socialist, period.

After Mitt’s debate performance, my answer is: Yes.

Newt was my 1st choice, but I don’t see how he could have done better, especially given his baggage.

That said, ask me again in four years.

I find this question SO interesting...

It implies what the writer as well as so many of us think - HOW did Romney win the ticket in the first place? Few of US wanted and backed him, yet we all watched him ‘win’ the primaries.

I don’t know anybody who voted for him in the primaries, yet we watched in befuddlement as they ‘gave’ him to us as our candidate.

Of course, I will back him now but in the back of my mind is the question: who am I kidding? I honestly don’t think our votes matter one bit anymore. The game is rigged and put on as a show for we ‘masses’ by the establishment elites.

Too late. Why ask now? It is what it is and it is a whole lot better than Obama.

See ya!

The thing to remember is that Romney, like Reagan, put together a machine. Maybe it takes a loss to make you see that, but if we wanted a true conservative candidate, they need to put together an organization and then run for the gold.

Personality and ideology will not carry the day in a national campaign. Money and groundwork do!

Gee, that’s cynical. I never used to buy it. But to be honest, after the past decade or more, I’m pretty much coming to the same conclusion that there’s really no point in it all. The ruling-class elites and party establishments decide on the candidates and pull the strings, always ready to nuke anyone who’d bring genuine reform or endanger their crony-socialist gravy train. They’d be perfectly fine with either Romney or Obama. From their vantage point, there’s no difference.

Furthermore, I have tremendous doubts the country is even remotely salvageable at this point. Economically, culturally, morally, it’s become such a corrupt sewer. It makes me wonder if things are even ‘worth’ trying to salvage anymore. Just having this scenario of having to choose between Obama and Romney makes everything seem so pointless and moot.

I will give this to Romney...

He has turned, what I previously viewed as a major drawback, into a benefit.

I thought Romneycare would eliminate his ability to attack Obamacare. It hasn’t, and he has used Romneycare as a way to effectively reach out to moderates; as evidence that he isn’t partisan.

The fear of Obama drives a stamped of sheep to abandon principle for the cliff of compromise and ruin.

ANYONE who thinks that voting for Romney (or anyone else for that matter) to the top spot is going to save us from the consequences of the last few decades are totally ignorant of facts, history or are completely delusional and cognitively dissonant.

There is only one way to save this nation - and sadly - even a majority of professing Christians have abandoned the sound biblical principle in favor of supporting a political messiah to save us from evil.

It ensures the Judgment and Fall this nation has sown for itself, will be so great - the earth itself may shudder.

As John Adams wrote “The people in America [had] the best opportunity and the greatest trust in their hands that Providence ever committed to so small a number ... if they betray their trust, their guilt will merit even greater punishment than other nations have suffered, and the indignation of Heaven ...”

I consider that warning a prophecy.

Sadly - the solution for almost all, seems to be electing a Democrat Socialist to save us from a Marxist.

This people want a king. They want to replace an evil king with their chosen king, and I have no king but Jesus.

As usual you're proposing facts not in evidence, but every elected official will be a disappointment. No one will be the perfect social and economic titan plus they have to go to Washington and deal with the culture that exists there. They have to deal with the lying, traitorous Democrats, a corrupt media, a Leftist popular culture and a base of conservatives who stand around bitching and moaning and waiting for them to show ANY indication of compromising.

NO ONE is EVER conservative enough for people who declare their "principles" to be the most pristine and priceless commodity in the Universe while we're just trying to stop the march of Marxism with what we're given.
