I think some of you have this wrong. We know Obama and his cronies have it in for Syria and Iran (funny how they are the only two major Shiite-led powers and Obama seems cozy with the Sunnis...)

Obama doesn't want to commit to a specific circumstance, because he wants a free hand to attack Iran. It's going to happen, if not this term, then his second term. Committing to some kind of red line ties his hands.

Syria, one of the only two major Shiite-led countries is all but paralyzed with a civil war. While Iraq has a lot of Shiites, two of the top three positions are Sunni.

That leaves Iran as the only major Shiite-led power left in the region. You know Obama would love to knock off the government of Iran or at least weaken Iran significantly. Iran has done a lot to try and keep Shiites in power in Iraq and to try and keep the Syrian government propped up, but it's only a matter of time until Iran stands alone.
