I believe the planet is at the beginning of a cycle of increased geological activity and in conjunction with oceanic heating, increased SO2 emissions from volcanoes, and lower solar output, will likely lead to much colder global temperature. Maybe even the beginning of planet's regularly scheduled age of ice. lol
thanks. i just looked at the pasadena recorder and darn if it didn’t start at the theoretical p-wave (time to hit). looks like what i doodle.
Yeah but even over the last few months it has been quiet with volcanoes...
connected?
Calm before the storm perhaps. Lots of reports coming in of rumbling beneath these behemoths. We shall see... ;)
It will be interesting period to watch!
what happened at the Glamis recorder? Power surge?
Needs a recalibration, some have a programmed one each day but I looked back through past days and don't see the markings of an auto-calibration so I assume someone will have to do it manually?
USGS removed the Jan Mayen quake from their display and list...
There is no doubt it was a quake....now one has to wonder of what origin?....lol
they did? even the “after shock”?
yep... I was researching that one to...lol
MAP 5.2 2012/08/30 13:51:06 70.927 -8.055 12.3 JAN MAYEN ISLAND REGION

May be a technical problem but I don't trust 'em either!
I suspect that magnitudes of many quakes are deliberately under reported as I've seen numerous cases where the USGS always came in under the locale's geological service magnitude assessment. It's why I stopped keeping a chart using USGS data.
Have you noticed the recent large and very deep quakes along the west coast of Mexico, extending down the South American coast? Seems to me that something is moving around down... ;)
I found an interesting graphic of activity in the artic:
Well thanks for that...
I needed the info on both of those.
What is odd also is the lack of aftershocks...but I dont have a complete list either to see..
and thanks for the graphic on those artic quakes!
Is all that background noise on the ABC7 quake cam from the front that went through? Really odd for the last 2 hours. Not matching up with any quakes.

Yeah that’s for sure something other than normal....lol
Could be wind I suppose but perhaps something more local to the drum...like someone turned on a washer/dryer?
On a side note though quake activity is very low right now....that won’t last!
hopefully it doesn’t time with Friday....lol
i was kind of thinking that they turned on the christmas party deep-base music. seemed about the time. lol
Lol..
It very well could be something of that nature or two amorous chipmunks...lol
Good to see it was a local thing and NOT a precursor. I agree with winoneforthegipper, these quiet periods are a time to be on alert!
No problemo
But I've noticed it getting quiet around the world, quake-wise... Kinda spooky!
It is sort of ominous.
