My mother was born and raised in Glasgow Scotland and she went back a few years ago to her old tenement and neighborhood and it was like freakin’ Islamabad, literally taken over by an entire country. Like John Cleese said “England is no longer England”

Muslims make up 0.4% of the Scottish population. And were they even Muslims?. No offence, but does your aging mother see a brown face and think Muslim?. There is a small population of Sikhs and Hindus in Scotland as well.
My mother is from Glasgow. I work there. There is no area in Glasgow which is ‘all Muslim’ or even ‘all Asian’ or non-white immigrant.
There are areas in the city where Sikhs, Hindus and Muslims live heavily, but at most they make a sizeable chunk of one small community somewhere in Glasgow. Jews live heavily in Garnethill and Newton Mearns, but even though they are famous in Scotland as ‘jewish areas’, they arent of course exclusively Jewish. The East End of Glasgow historically is Irish Catholic. Same for any ‘South Asian area’ in Glasgow.

Story one is correct, BUT the local Muslim groups were the ones who alerted the police and social services, and it was the WHITE PC police and councils who did nothing.

I can remember myself visiting Presybterian, Catholic, Episcopalian and a Sikh temple as part of my RE teaching (1982-1988).
Must be more recent trend than my RE.
In Liverpool (1958-1965) we never visited any religious locations as part of high school RE.
The teaching and field trips were mostly nondenominational (historic cathedrals excepted) and other religions only affected us on Friday when we didn't get meat at school lunch. I really think that was a money saving idea though - all of the Catholic kids went to Catholic schools...:^)
In the 60's religion was an "at home" thing, as it should be.

When the banning of Churchill form the textbooks happened, I was in correspondance with his grandson, the HOnorable Nicholas Soames, MP - He wrote me:

The Education Secretary Michael Gove (a Scot), has ensured that recent changes to the national teaching has re-included Churchill and other legendary figures like Nightingale, Nelson etc.
Gove and the Tory-led coalition are trying to put back as many traditional elements of history/teaching as they can. Which is a good step.
