Its was the lamestream media that defined Dick Cheney as a “conservative.”
I stopped letting the media tell me who a “conservative” was back in the 70s.
Back then I listened to the fiery radio preachers-commentators who spoke out against the Council on Foreign Relations, Bilderberg Conferences etc.
Lots of Republicans like Rockefeller and Kissinger were part of those groups and their strategy back then was to bring “order” to the world back then involving “detente” with the Soviet Union.
Thank God Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and Ronald Reagan were around to speak out against the Ford-Rockefeller-Kissinger strategy.
Dick Cheney worked for Gerald Ford, a liberal Republican president who had Nelson Rockefeller as VP and Kissinger as Secretary of State.
Dick Cheney never was a conservative. The “order” that he and the Condi Rice’s want today aparently involves a 21st Century “detente” with Islam.
Think about that????????
“Gay Mafia” - describes it to a T. I think you may have coined a new phrase.
Palin was also following Reagan’s commandment to speak no ill against another Republican.
Condi didn’t have a chance in heck of actually being picked by Romney, and if Palin had in any way dissed her, all kinds of ‘cat fight’ stories would have been made of it.
I have seen people change after they have received a heart transplant.
If you parse it, a good VP pick doesn’t mean the same thing as a good VP. (I wasn’t fond of that recommendation either, but what else is she going to say without appearing to be a jealous female or a racist?)
>>>Huh, I thought we won the war of 1812
America’s goal in 1812 was to seize Canada, and it failed in that mission. But you are right, “defeat” is too strong a world for the War of 1812. That war was a draw, similar to the Korean War of the 1950s.
This actually strengthens my point. Cheney played a major role in the only military defeat that America has ever suffered in her history. Americans who were alive in that time, can never forget the TV images of helicopters being pushed from transport ships into the sea, to make space for people who were fleeing from the Vietcong. America has never fully recovered from the humiliation of Vietnam, and Cheney owes our Vietnam Vets an apology for ending a war that America was winning.
Don't forget the liberal MSM and the worm Cronkite.
Didn’t we used to like him?
Cheney has just been inside the Beltway too long. The attitude is typical. No yahoo from out in the sticks can possibly be qualified to crash OUR game.
It would not have mattered who was #2 on the McCain ticket, McCain was the mistake. How he ever got the nomination is beyond me. I voted for him but had to hold my nose to do it.
Wasn't the war of 1812 America's "Second war of Independence" that as a result of the impressment of American sailors by Great Britain?
Actually, it was the North Vietnamese Army. The Vietcong had largely been defeated as a military force during the Tet offensive of 1968. We had kicked the crap out of the NVA too, but were undermined by politicians in Washington who had decided they wanted to wimp out of what it took to finish them off.
Well, on the “fiscal” side of conservatism, the Bush-Cheney years hardly represents an exemplary record (isn’t there some quote of Cheney’s dismissing the importance of deficits or the national debt?), and on the “social” side of conservatism... supporting homo-marriage?? Lost a LOT of respect for him especially over this latter stance.
Added to all this, he epitomizes the kind of ruling-class GOP establishment, who looks down on both “outsiders” and “reformers” like Palin. Frankly, although I’ve held no real animus towards Cheney, I’m so damned sick of this kind of elitist, backstabbing condescention by the GOP-e towards both the Tea Party and especially Palin. It infuriates me beyond words, and has instilled in me a tremendous distrust and anger towards the very Party I’ve exclusively supported and voted for my entire voting life.
The liberal Democrats rode the public opinion wave and led the way in defeat in Vietnam.
Of course, it started with a no-win fear of nuclear war strategy used by LBJ and his Democrat gang.
They used pin prick bombing or bombed the Ho Chi Minh trail instead of Haiphong harbor, where the supply line for the Communists started.
This war was doomed to drag on just like the W Bush-Cheney war in Afghanistan today.
That left the opening for Cronkite and others to change public opinion about it.
The “peace with honor” that Nixon and Kissinger waved before us in 1972 was a joke in the end. It got our prisoners out but the Communists broke the deal and conquered the South with Gerald Ford watching on and the Congressional Democrats unwilling to lift a finger.
True, but this does show the hypocrisy of GOPe types when they call for that “unity” , when it comes to backing Romney and their favored politicians. Loyalty seems to be a one-way street, judging from the way they are always blasting true conservatives while telling us we need to unite behind the chosen ones. They’re quick to stab conservatives in the back. We musn’t hurt their profits, but they can run right over our principles. They do it on a regular basis, especially in elections between a conservative and one of their picks.
>>>>Cheney, Gerald Ford, and Nelson Rockefeller, caused America to be defeated by Vietnam.. uhhh NOPE, it was MacNamera, LBJ and a WORTHLESS Piece of SH!T DEM Congress!
But you are forgetting that Richard Nixon turned the Vietnam War around, and America forced North Vietnam to the negotiating able. Nixon had already won the Vietnam War, and all that was remaining was a formal surrender from the government of North Vietnam.
The Watergate mess made it impossible for North Vietnam to formally surrender. Gerald Ford and Dick Cheney were given the job of completing America’s victory, because Nixon had done most of the hard work. But Cheney and Ford failed in that simple task. America has never apologized to our Vietnam Veterans, for snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory in 1975. Dick Cheney should lead the apology process to our brave veterans, who have never received the honor that they deserve.
What do you expect from the Veep of a “compassionate” conservative?
VNA General Giap(Head VNA General) stated that in the end of the Tet Offensive the VC and NVA were a spent force and were contemplating surrender and then they heard that POS Cronkite shooting off his mouth and they decided to fight on.
Cheney, Bush and Rove just have a different take on what
conservative means. However, Cheney’s opinion on “experience” needed on becoming VP is way off the mark.
All the “experience” he, Rove and Bush brought to the table
during their administration did not gain a lot of confidence
at the end of the Bush presidency.
The Bush administration finished with one of lowest approval
ratings in American History and opened the door for Obama.
So much for Cheney’s “experience” opinion.
Yep! Remember Lugar's sour grapes refusal to support Mourdock after losing the Indiana primary
