President Romney will conduct himself with honor and integrity both in office and in his personal life

Romney has always been a disgraceful human being and an embarrassment to good conservative people.

His speeches, fund raising, pleadings for abortion, his saying we only want our rifles to hunt down and kill people, his socialism and evading of military service, his compulsion to lie about everything, claiming to have marched with Martin Luther King with his dad, claiming to be a gun owner, being busted twice for keeping the same illegals for 11 years, hating Reagan and smearing him and on and on.

Romney is the sleaziest republican we have ever seen win the nomination, he lies about everything, truth is worse than nothing to him, he will lie when he doesn't even have a reason to, and him and the gay power movement, wow.

Correctly if I am wrong, but generally those same people like you pimping Mitt Romney and so enraged and against Sarah Palin. I wish it were no more than jealousy and a rivalry of sorts. But it really sounds like your kind wants to demolish her. Your only making it harder to embrace Romney. And setting up a dangerous scenario where the party splits for good.

This was a pretty funny bit that Emo Phillips did a while back that pretty much sums up the perception I have of people who bash other religions.

As a christian, I have always believe love of one another was the greatest gift, and lesson Christ gave to his bride. The absolute hatred I have seen spewed on this board towards Mormons and some others is repugnant. Each person should ask themselves “Which presidential candidate, believes exactly as I do?” If you're anything like me, chances are none of them share your exact beliefs. So if religion is the only litmus test for you, you're likely not going find your ideal candidate. So I guess as far as religion as well as everything else for that matter, I guess I'll go with the guy who more closely shares the same values I do. The anti-Romney chorus has become so shrill on here, I've almost given up coming on here altogether. It's not that I'm a big Mitt fan. He was my least favored candidate (except maybe Ron Paul). I was never a great contributor to the board. I won't be missed if I just end up somewhere else. I do think there is the danger of chasing away some folks many of you will miss though. Having said that, I do still for the most part enjoy seeing the opinions on news etc. from the folks on here, and will probably keep coming on, but it's not the same FR I used to love.

I know absolutely nothing about the Mormon religion except that the rules are, “No drinking”, “No smoking”, and “No gambling”.

That’s good enough for me. :-)

At times it feels more energy is spent attacking those who should be seen as allies rather than the true enemies.

Imagine how the founders felt and what they went through. Yet, it all worked out for them because they had faith in God and each other.

Maybe as a Canadian you can not grasp it, or imagine that we were born from dissent, but we were. Only 2/3 or so of the citizens of the 13 states was on the side of the founders and the Revolution.

Bad things will happen, but strong faith that it will work out because the others on this thread will be there and ALL want it to work out. Yes it sometimes seems that the thread forum works against those who do not toe a certain line, but the whole of FR is for the U.S. and so they can be your strength when you need it.

So no doing any more semi-opus's and throwing yourself on the sword when you drink and have doubts. If you get zooted that is as it will be and you can still visit and watch. FR is great and even when things do not go as you want, take a break (if you are still around) and just watch when you are strained by the back and forth.

Just have faith it will work out, 'cause it will. Maybe not as you want in that minute of doubt, but it will.

I come from a large family and we really have had some real toss arounds... but it is great and comforting that they are there, and always will be. Same with FR.

Prayers for you and all who cross this way.

I dare you to post your own predictions of what a Romney presidency will result in.

First, I'll tell you my predictions of what effect a Romney presidency will have on the reputation of the entire Mormon "community" in the USA, as I told several LDS co-workers today.

95% of American blacks voted for Obama. Twenty or a hundred years from now, history and people WILL NOT blame American blacks for voting for Obama, because they are "... fill-in-the-blank ..." and they could not have possibly known better.

95% or more of Mormons will vote for Romney. Twenty or a hundred years from now, history and people WILL STILL blame American Mormons for whatever damage he causes, and for his preventing the reversal of the accumulated Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush damages to the USA as a Constitutional republic. Mormons, partly because they are perceived as reasonably well educated, collectively, and because they all know damn well that Romney is devoid of any conservative principles, will forever and ever be associated with Romney's record as president.

Yes, we all know about that prophecy thing, (that some Mormon will save the USA, or something like that), and Romney has about as much chance of living up to it as Barry Odinga. And, oops, that prophecy comes with a HUGE DISCLAIMER: ("... if it is to be saved."), or something like that.

Everyone I know (at least those I consider human) will be voting against Obama, and that means Romney will get our vote. We'll do whatever we can to pressure him toward the right, but his entire life story is one of crony communism; i.e. stealing from others, and redistributing the spoils to himself and his cronies.

Romney's behavior and that of his supporters during this primary season has only reinforced the charges that the corruption and crony communism will continue if he is elected.

This is where you went "one toke over the line".

Those who knew and understood Reagan, won't be pointing to the car salesman Romney as being anything in the way of a second coming of Reagan. If such a fantasy as that could be true, we'd have seen some clear sign of it by now. Mittens doesn't have the rhetorical chops, period.

From there on you continued go all Choom-gang on us. Some Chinaman, or some whack-job "evangelical" assassinate Romney??? Pipe dreams. It would make more sense to look towards the faggoty left-wing, being as Mormons stirred up enduring hatreds among the Castro Street bath house crowd for Mormon support of Prop 8 in California.

At this point it's still very difficult for me to see enough Dem voters defecting to vote for the likes of Mittens. Something about the man made me distrust him at first sight...and I'm not the only one who picks up on it. He's been a career presidential candidate, and other than that I truly wonder if the man honestly knows himself, beyond the fact he strongly desires to be President. He's no Ronald Reagan, of that we can be sure.

Then some greater recognition of Mormons as being Christian? Among actual Christians? Perhaps, but only to the extent their beliefs are influenced and truly guided more by what a faithful King James derivative New Testament offers, than that whack-job (speaking of whack-jobs) Book of Mormon guides them, then yes--- not unlike how it is today. (Becoming less specifically Mormon, and more like Christians of those centuries before the con artist swindler Joseph Smith came along). So there's no victory for Mormonism on that horizon, now matter how much pride and longing may lead one to predict their own cult's vindication.

Otherwise, we reject the Mormon attempts at witchcraft.

Your "prophesy" reads not unlike Muslim predictions that we will all bow down someday and thank Allah that he sent Muhammad (may pork be upon him, or may police be called upon him).

My personal advice to you, is to stay out of the prophecy business. You are presently out of your depth.

I agree with your critique of FR. Lots of absolutely absurd crap flowing here these days.

Less certain about your predictions, but I hope you are right.

At this point I only see Romney as the ‘lesser of 2 evils’, which is something I have become used to all the way back to when I was first old enough to vote.

It is plain as day to me that 4 more years of Obama and there will be nothing left of this nation worth fighting for.

Mitt Romney’s presidency will continue running huge deficits, perhaps not as large as Obama’s, but big enough. He won’t close any agencies, reduce any budgets, basically accomplishing nothing lasting in terms of cost cutting.

Mitt Romney will appoint “stealth liberals” like David Souter to the SCOTUS.

If the issue comes up, Mitt Romney will lobby for and sign a ban on “assault weapons” and try to make it permanent.

Mitt Romney will continue to support the gay agenda.

Mitt Romney will do little or nothing to the continued slaughter of the unborn.

Dunno what he’ll do to support our allies and hurt our enemies, but I don’t see Mitt Romney being a great leader in the War against the Caliphate. He’ll probably prefer to fight against “Islamophobia.”

"Not only did the anti-Mormon posters oblige us and demonstrate the level of hate and bigotry in their hearts..."

I won't post the myriad number of outright visceral posts by the mormons and their defenders to those who were engaged in debating your theology and doctrine in response to this bait.

I'll simply posit the following towards you and them...

A seeker of truth should never see gentle, truthful rebuke or rebuttal as anything other than concern and love.

“Open rebuke is better than secret love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful" (Prov.27:5-6).

"Whoso loveth instruction, loveth also knowledge: but he that HATETH REPROOF IS BRUTISH” – a mere brute – an animal! (Prov.12:1).

“A wise man heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke” (Prov.13:1).

“A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth. Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge” (Prov.14:6-7).

“He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy” (Prov.29:1).

What you and many others here on FR see as "hatred", those of us opposed to mormonism see as rebuke. Rebuke/refutation towards a theology that fired the first shot by declaring ALL of Christianity apostate and the practitioners of such, whores of Babylon and pawns of Satan.

And this theology continues this practice to this day.

"And for those of you anti-Mormons out there, I have some prediction for you too. And these apply even if Romney is not elected as POTUS:

- Your grandchildren will call Mormons Christians, and look at Mormonism as the third branch of Christianity alongside Catholicism and Protestantism"

Nope, I won't let them believe this. I will educate them on the Bible and then show them, point by point how mormonism is wrong. But answer me this; How is mormonism to be considered a "third branch of Christianity" when mormons claim and have claimed since its inception that it's a "complete restoration"?

"- All the attacks against Romney that stem from the anti-Mormon garbage you have bought into will result in the attacker either apologizing, or in their loss of credibility. The more anti-Mormon attacks are made in the mainstream media, the worse the attackers will look."

Again, what you see as "hatred" and "garbage", I see as rebuke.

" - Your grandchildren will likewise look at such attacks as being as bigoted and wrong, even when they come from you."

Pretty bold declaration of an emotional appeal to political correctness. I have not taught my children PC. They are being taught that logic and reasoning trump irrational fears and emotional appeals.

" - Some of your grandchildren or great-grandchildren will become Mormons, and after you are dead they will have temple ordinances performed for you, and you will be glad at the time that they do."

Maybe so, then again maybe yours will leave mormonism. But I will be able to stand before God and account for my efforts. I will not bow at the pagan altars in the mormon temples. I won't be "glad" of anything they may do as it is irrelevant to my salvation and completely without merit.

In closing, I am not an “anti-mormon”, no matter how many times it’s repeated. Instead of using more accurate terms or words like “church critic”, the word “anti-” is used as it relates to the mormons as a people, “anti-mormon”. That it is a personal prejudice. To draw parallels to many “anti-” [such as anti-semitism] pogroms from the past and currently.

It’s an incendiary word that is already loaded with negative connotations that arouses in people a reflexive response that is neither necessary nor relevant, almost feral in nature.

If I were an anti-mormon, meaning I don’t like mormons, or “hate” them as I’ve been so oft accused, why would I still be married to one? Why would I associate with them in the many venues that I do? Why would I care about them enough to endure the slurs, slander, lies etc. that I encounter not only on FR, but in my daily life because I dare to take a stand against the false teachings of mormonism?

No, I dare say that if I "hated" mormons, I would leave them to their fate, instead, I challenge them to challenge their beliefs and teachings. I challenge them to come to know this...

Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.[KJV] John 6:29

///Signed///

An ex-mormon

Grig, my criticism of Mormonism is based on the simple fact that Mormonism is not a Christian Religion. It pretends to be. It does a good job of pretending. But it is no more Christian than Hinduism is (both with their pantheon of Gods and belief in doctrines of eternal progression).

My criticism of Romney is based on the fact that he is the most liberal "Republican" ever to seek the nomination, much less actually get it. He has a lifelong track record of being pro-abortion, pro-socialism, pro-homosexual marriage and adoption and he is on record as saying that he was basically a RINO.

The fact that Romney believes that there are a gazillion gods and that every once in a while they get together on the Planet Kolob and vote to exalt more gods into the fraternity of gods and that he will someday be numbered in that fraternity certainly doesn't make me any more likely to vote for him.

Those evangelicals who are vocal about their opposition to MormonISM, actually have more concern for the souls of Mormons than those who have no opinion on the subject or who think that Mormons can actually get into heaven by believing that Jesus Christ is not the Eternal God, but simply the older brother of Satan.

Grig, you need to wake up to the fact that Mormonism is not Christian and that Romney is not now or has he ever been a Republican.

Just as Mormons are, in fact, wolves in sheep's clothing pretending to be Christians, Romney is a wolf in sheep's clothing pretending to be a Republican.

I guess my work on this thread is done. Thank you all. I look forward to your reactions to Romney’s election and terms as POTUS.

How does a Cult that demeans Christ and the Christian faith deserve respect among those in a (mostly) Christian nation...

I do agree with you in one respect, we may at some point consider the LDS a branch of Christianity, but only because the powers that be finally realize that chucking the BOM and the Smithian ideas is the only path to survival in the information age.
