I’ll add a couple rolls of quarters to the list. Why? Cell phone towers go out and can stay out. With quarters, if you can still find a working payphone, you can use it.
Otherwise, they make great hand weights for punching or drop them into a bag or sock for an improvised striking weapon.

you will still need to know the time. Man that can't look to the sun and determine the local time is an idiot. It's not SS7 bus, or GPS time, but it's close enough.
And the equinoxes and solstices are pretty easy to figure out, too.

I know! When there was an ice storm here in Oct. and my cell phone provider was out*, I had to really look around to find a payphone.
(*I haven't had a land line in 10+ years)

Good point!
I was thinking “two-fer” as one could use quarters for a weapon and for using a payphone. I don’t know if payphones will take nickels.

If you can find a pay phone then you have to call someone who has a land phone other than a cell phone......

I’m screwed Preppers don't realize it, but they're screwed too. Because if the sh*t really hits the fan, the haves will be under serious assault by waves of have-nots. Unless the prepper is in some secret isolated cabin somewhere, it won't be pretty for anyone in the good ol' USA.
Having said that, it still makes sense to be prepared. It's cheap insurance.

Because if the sh*t really hits the fan, the haves will be under serious assault by waves of have-nots. When I used up all of my prep stuff after October 2008, I wasn't over-run. But that was a personal SHTF thing.
I'll take my chances.
Do you have historical evidence for your observation? If it's more than a personal SHTF kind of thing?
