Mission Control an Mr. Musk showing restraint until Dragon capture is verified..
Dragon better not pull a Liberty Bell 7!

I can envision a flock of seagulls and a few hefty bags tucked in the corner of the barge, surround by used tires...
Then again, they were dealing with a manned capsule, and it WAS a government thing, hence the involvement of the Navy. This is a private enterprise (mostly), and there’s no one aboard, so there’s no need for a fleet of ships. I imagine that’ll change once we get its first manned crew.
Is there a Gus Grissom on board to prematurely pull the hatch handle? Yeah yeah they said he didn’t but I think he did..
Oh yeah - just the difference in memories of the past event was kinda funny.
From what I read yesterday splashdown was supposed to be 42 minutes after instead of 44.
You would think they’d have Miami Vice type chase boats to at least go out and get a quick visual.
Yeah, you’re right: and that turned out to be correct. Just a bit odd that the live stream report had that time at 2 minutes earlier.
Now they are trying to blow off the difference: “that’s what happens with water landings.” Ummmm.... yeah, right.
They said they also had a couple of ‘fast inflatables’ (read Zodiacs) to get divers close.
I don’t see why they can’t carry a live feed of the vessel sighting in the water or capture..
I spoke too soon!!!! There it is, in the water.. AWESOME!!!!!
Why? Extra expense. I’d be willing to bet that when they get people on board, we’ll see quality live coverage.
Lots of go-fast boats in this Miami Vice music video, “Numb Encore” with JayZ and Eminem.

It would be great to have a boat like one of those with the SpaceX logo on it!
“I dont see why they cant carry a live feed of the vessel sighting in the water or capture..”
It was also extremely unfortunate that the only video during the entire reentry was from an IR camera. It would have been much better PR to get the whole thing recorded in gorgeous HD. I’m amazed SpaceX didn’t make that happen.
At any rate, congratulations to SpaceX on a near flawless mission!
Hopefully they’re getting it all in HD, just recording it and not carrying it live.
Maybe SpaceX will have Burt Rutan make them an airplane that will be outfitted with such capability!
