This is a little strange, because it was just last week that I visited Larry Miller's Shelby collection at Miller Motorsports Park in Salt Lake.
Miller's collection is matched only by Shelby's own. The following pic is from just one area of the museum - none are replicas. There are many not included in the photo, including one (one of the three coups that beat Ferrari) Lemans) worth over $10 million.

No one mentions it, but he had a wicked chili recipe, too....the only one the hubby likes (other than mine).
Will share when I have time to dig it out.
Godspeed, CS. Look forward to meeting up with you in the sweet-hereafter. Will put my MGB (with my own brand of carb tweaking) against yours. You’ll win the race, but I’ll still look hotter and my chili will be better. We’ll call it a win-win-win...
Prayers to his family and all that loved and admired him.

I’ll have to go out to the garage and hug my Mustang. Gotta tell him his daddy died.
RIP Mr. Shelby.

He earlier had built his wife a Cobra with auto trans. Dunno how many of those got built, suspect very few. What a collectors item that would be. Interesting.
On that note, nevermind his business treasure, nearly any car in his collection could make someone flithy rich.

The daddy of the Mustang was Lee Iococca, Shelby was it’s patron saint.

The White House just released a statement:
"Michelle and I note with great sadness the passing of American sportcar legend Caroll Shelby, a remarkable woman who in the 1960s broke through the wall of corporate sexism against women automotive engineers and who became an inspiration to all."

Never saw an article about the auto Cobra that I recall. I lived as a teenager on a street call Pershing Dr. Main street to get into Playa Del Rey from Jefferson Blvd. Stop sign before the street, and many a muscle car launch as the street was straight and 4 lanes. You could easily hear the Cobras, and this one shifting auto.
Remember the early 260/289 Cobra went for $3500. The later 427 was $7000 IIRC. Of course, what 15 yr old kid could dream of that.

Kool story bro.
I envy you a little for being able to tell people you heard Shelby's wife's car in real time.
