I am not buying it. Bulb or the line they are selling.

I replaced the Krypton bulb in my big Maglight with their LED substitute. It worked well enough, for a while. It seemed to provide longer battery life, but the blue light definitely scattered worse in fog, etc. Now, though, the LED has degraded to the point where its (focused) beam is hardly visible on a lighted room wall -- no matter what type of fresh batteries I use.
I'm going back to the incandescent bulb.

I'd pay $60 if they could guarantee I would last another 20 years.

When I toured Edison’s lab in Florida back in the 80’s, they had some original bulbs that were still working. So, I figure they’ve always known how to make incandescent lightbulbs that last 60 years, they’re just not economical to sell, since you won’t have much repeat business.

Lemme see, if you’re average regular bulb costs you $1 (it doesn’t, it’s cheaper than that), you would have to change the bulb three times a year to be cost effective. The crap they’re trying to sell us is absurd.

We put in LEDs for the long life, since our ceiling is 22 ft high. They’re still working after 3 years, but growing dim, very fast over the last few months.

An LED flashlight which costs aroud ten bucks is way better than incandescents for inspecting welds - flaws stick out like a sore thumb. I won’t buy them for the house until they are way cheaper than they are now though.
