Keith strikes me as the kind of guy who blew his money on a NYC penthouse and $6000 bottles of cognac. His career self-destruction is so patently Charley Sheen that it’s hard not to wonder if he has a substance abuse problem.
With Keith’s fetish for burning his bridges after being such a nightmare of an employee that networks spend millions to buy out his remaining contract, even in his early days at ESPN, the only surprise here is that it took him 20 years to crash and burn. Keith will probably wind up making a subsistence wage writing boilerplate one-page commentary for the back-page of a liberal news magazine that nobody reads.
For Keith to make $10+ million per year until he’s 85 like Mike Wallace and Andy Rooney, all he had to do was sit in front of a camera for 3 hours a day and read what was shoved in front of him. Screwing up that gig shows what an unmitigated moron he is, and that’s in a profession where it’s known that the median employee is not real bright.
