"If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures." - Alexander Hamilton
"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn’t make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan
"A thing moderately good is not so good as it ought to be. Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." - Thomas Paine 1792

That's false. The independent website ontheissues.org graphs candidates' ideologies according to their positions on the issues, and this is how they label Romney and Obama. Romney is the image on top and Obama is the image at the bottom: Link http://www.ontheissues.org/barack_obama.htm

Romney = Obama???

That’s like saying pepperoni pizza and chicken-pineapple pizza are pretty much the same thing.

I suspect they rated Romney on what he says (when pandering for the nomination) and NOT what he actually has done when he exercised power.

If you believe he is a far right conservative, I have swamp land you might be interested in buying for your retirement home.

Check out #4! That one is actually serious, has repeatedly voiced that on this forum and gets a free pass. And as usual, more and more good FReepers are leaving. The nasty, rude attacks are completely allowed, provided you belong to the proper “anybody but Romney” crowd. This is getting hard to take for even the most dedicated Military Patriots like myself, who love and protect their country above all else.

I am very close to leaving for good. (Literally)

I think the two are indistinquishable based on Romney’s record.

Obama will be stopped by Congress. He has already lost their respect as evidenced by Obama not getting a single vote for his budget.

Romney however will have a clear pass by both democrats and establishment republicans.

Romney is a liberal’s best dream. What better plan than to have your opponents leader implement the pro-sodomy, pro-abortion, pro-socialist policies that you wanted implemented.

Yes, Mitt Romney is a liberal, no doubt about that whatsoever.

Barack Hussein Obama is a red communist.

By owning both parties, the establishment cannot lose. Romney and Obama are two sides of the same coin. Like it or not, we will have either Theocratic Communism, or we will have Fascistic Communism.God have mercy!

Oh my gosh you’ve convinced me! Your endless, repetitive posts about how much you hate Mitt Romney have persuaded me to vote for Obama in November. Giving the Muslim Marxist tyrant 4 more years to completely destroy the country will really show those Republican elites! That’ll show ‘em! Yeah, I’m an Obama voter now because Mitt Romney isn’t the perfect conservative candidtate that I dreamed about. I’m proud to join the ranks of malcontent cranks who cant accept reality and vote for the guy we have (not the guy we wish we had) because he’s better than the Muslim Marxist alternative.

If you believe he is a far right conservative,,,

Uh...it doesn't show him as a "far right" conservative.

I suspect that you & SoCon have your minds made up - and nothing will penetrate the anti-Romney wall you've erected.

And so it is for you - and oftentimes me - that my tagline exists...

so, are you saying that your socialist is better than their socialist?????? socialist is as socialist does.... baby killers are baby killers.... attacks on the second amendment are attacks on the second amendment... gay marriage advocate is gay marriage advocate..

socialism is the enemy of the country, enemy of the people, enemy of the constitution, and MY enemy.

I will not lend my name in any way shape or form to the progression of socialism.. Period..

Oh you’re right! Thats why voting for Obama makes so much sense. I have to teach those darn Republican elitists that if they aren’t going to nominate the perfect conservative candidate, I will vote for the Marxist to teach them a lesson. Or stay home and not vote, which is just as good as a vote for the Marxist. Your logic is flawless. Being a petulant whiner is absolutely the way to teach those darn elites to do the right thing.

Independent? OntheIssues.org is based in Massachusetts. Could be wrong, but I bet it is linked heavily to Romney.

Anyway, an analysis that wrong certainly calls their credibility into question.

More Mitt, More Problems

Romney supports federal involvement in education, long held by constitutional conservatives as a state prerogative, offering his support for the Bush-Kennedy No Child Left Behind law. In a 2008 debate, Romney stated, “I supported No Child Left Behind, still do.”[33]

Romney ran on raising the minimum wage and putting in place automatic increases by indexing it to inflation.[34]

Romney signed in to law a smoking ban.[35]

Romney thinks it’s OK for companies to ask for bailouts, stating in a New York Times op-ed about the auto bailout, “It is not wrong to ask for government help, but the automakers should come up with a win-win proposition”[36]

In April 2009, Romney told The Hill newspaper that: “We as Republicans misspeak when we say we don’t like regulation. We like modern, up-to-date dynamic regulation that is regularly reviewed, streamlined, modernized and effective.”[37]

On Neal Cavuto on January 28 2010, Romney supported the reappointment of Ben Bernanke to chairman of the Federal Reserve.[38]

Romney distanced himself from Reagan. During his Senate debate with Ted Kennedy, Romney made it clear he was not a fan of Ronald Reagan. Kennedy said to Romney, “Under your economic program, under the program of Mr. Reagan…” to which Romney responded, “I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. I’m not trying to return to Reagan-Bush.”[39]

Romney didn’t like the Contract with America, saying “…it is not a good idea to go into a contract like what was organized by the Republican party in Washington laying out a whole series of things which the party said these are the things we are gonna do. I think that’s a mistake.”[40]
