When police officers arrived, Martin was lifeless, face down on the ground, while Zimmerman was bleeding from his head and his back was covered in grass, as if he had been on the ground, the police report said.
Sanford police issued a statement Wednesday defending their decision not to arrest Zimmerman. They said that when officers arrived, he claimed self-defense, “which at the time was supported by physical evidence and testimony.”
The police chief said Zimmerman claimed he was attacked by Martin after he had given up his chase and was returning to his truck.(my emphasis)
As noted earlier here, at least one witness saw Zimmerman on the ground with Martin on top of him, beating him, and Zimmerman crying for help before Zimmerman shot Martin. This is suported by the police finding of grass on Zimmerman's back and Zimmerman having a head injury, apparently from Martin's beating him. As noted above, Zimmerman says Martin attacked him after Zimmerman "had given up his chase and was returning to his truck." If that's true, then Zimmerman, fool that he may have been for initiating the confrontation, still has a solid self defense case. Indeed, since he's the only direct witness to how he and Martin came into physical contact, that could be a very hard case to disprove.
All in all, we should withhold judgment until this case is fully investigated and it's detemined which of the men inititated the physical confrontation. LSM screechers, like the odious Shepard Smith, should shut their collective pie holes.
It WAS investigated - by the police. The police didn’t make an arrest. Probably because they felt a crime had not been committed.
What’s happening here is the press and black leaders (in spite of both men being Hispanic) are acting as vigilantes - and taking ‘justice’ into their own hands.

Normally the MSM would look down on vigilantes - but when the vigilantes are on the left - well, that’s different. Why it’s different we don’t know - could be bias, one sided reporting, picking favorites, that they hate us... who knows?

I have no idea of all of the details in this event. There should be a trial. But this much is true: Zimmerman’s actions precipitated the events that followed. The police advised him to remain in his vehicle. He chose to ignore the advice. NONE of this would have taken place had Zimmerman watched instead of taking action. It is, after all, called “Neighborhood Watch.”

BTW, we know it was a well grounded fear because, as it turned out, Zimmerman shot Martin and killed him. Among other things that proves that Zimmerman was 'chasing Martin with a gun".
How lucky for Obama and the left that they get to revisit race-relations and civil-rights history all summer long.
Or is it unlucky? Because most people in this country are not racist nor do they accept the premise that they are. And really, with gas prices, economy, inflation ... well, to quote Carville ~ It’s the economy, stupid!
Also, I’ve heard the TV-talkers already setting the stage for ‘black children cannot walk freely without fear of making people afraid.’ Ask Bill Cosby - whose fault is that? But frankly, if I were walking alone on a street and any young male was walking behind me, white, black, asian, hispanic - I would be concerned for my safety. Young hoodlums come in all colors and shapes.
I don’t think race had anything to do with this.
And I hope sensible minds in the media stop this witch hunt now. Zimmerman may be guilty of being over-vigilant and maybe looking for a fight. But race is not the reason.
I feel very sorry for the young mans family. They are being preyed upon by the minions of the left and the media. Can’t pass up this opportunity for this summers blockbuster trial.
Whipping the public into a frenzy is a media specialty.
