Interior Minister Gueant said Merah, who had been under surveillance since the attack on the first of the soldiers last week, wanted revenge “for the Palestinian children and he also wanted to attack the French army because of its foreign intervention.”So "under surveillance", he was permitted to walk into a Jewish school without so much as a patdown.

The political damage would of been huge if it had been a right winger, the political fallout from it being a Muslim will be negligible. The discussion would of been endless with an attack from someone from the far right, but now will be fading to a low murmur. I would say you have to love France, but unfortunately the same thing would happen here to a only slightly lesser degree.

Every single one of the news reports I saw on thing, both national and local, said a "right-wing extremist" or "neo-Nazi" did this. In reporting this story, Fox News even did a recap of the mass shooting in Norway last year!
More and more I see how right Andrew Breitbart was. The real enemy is the media.

I loved that the brilliant CSIs in the media concluded that the shooter had to have been a “Nazi” because....he shot three African men! And everyone KNOWS that Muslims can’t be racist.

The link says the man has NOT given up yet,that the siege is still going on. It mentions that his brother is also a radical and that they had a car filled with explosives. The (expletive deleted) also has stated that he planned to kill another French soldier in Toulouse today;the victim was already picked out.
