It would be totally understandable for someone who was already suffering from PTSD

PTSD?!?!? It's frickin' "Shell Shock"..

One of my favorite rants by George Carlin, albeit some leftist tripe in there, but what he says here about watering down the language is right on:

For some reason, it just keeps getting worse. I'll give you an example of that. There's a condition in combat. Most people know about it. It's when a fighting person's nervous system has been stressed to it's absolute peak and maximum. Can't take anymore input. The nervous system has either (click) snapped or is about to snap.

In the first world war, that condition was called Shell Shock. Simple, honest, direct language. Two syllables, Shell Shock. Almost sounds like the guns themselves. That was seventy years ago.

Then a whole generation went by and the second world war came along and very same combat condition was called Battle Fatigue. Four syllables now. Takes a little longer to say. Doesn't seem to hurt as much. Fatigue is a nicer word than shock. Shell Shock! Battle Fatigue.

Then we had the war in Korea, 1950. Madison avenue was riding high by that time, and the very same combat condition was called Operational Exhaustion. Hey, were up to eight syllables now! And the humanity has been squeezed completely out of the phrase. It's totally sterile now. Operational exhaustion. Sounds like something that might happen to your car.

Then of course, came the war in Viet Nam, which has only been over for about sixteen or seventeen years, and thanks to the lies and deceits surrounding that war, I guess it's no surprise that the very same condition was called Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Still eight syllables, but we've added a hyphen! And the pain is completely buried under jargon. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

I'll bet you if we'd of still been calling it Shell Shock, some of those Viet Nam veterans might have gotten the attention they needed at the time. I'll betcha. I'll betcha."

Rick’s conditional apology was idiotic; campaign foolery. But unlike the other sellouts, that’s not his default position; just another compassionate, foot-in-mouth moment.

So many get tied in knots over the obviously non-sanctioned loss of life, but the continual killing of US Military personnel is fine-n-dandy by the #s that don’t give a crap about the perilous RoE and mission creep they put in place.

You are absolutely correct....but I do wonder if Karsi didn’t demand this and was strong arming to get it done or he’d unleash the Taliban and others on our guys. Only Obama would yield to such , Karsi knows he’s a weak President.

Really makes me more than mad to see our nation lose the respect it had......Santorum isn’t going to help that as his statement just atttests to...no way do I want to see another President yield to apologizing to another nation in the heat of war.

The shooter was suffering from both PTSD and traumatic brain injury. Have you ever known anyone who had a head injury and though the doctors said they were fine, they were never the same. Every case different, but brains don’t heal the way other parts of the body do. Then you add mental illness, which is what PTSD is, and you don’t know what will happen.

This young man had served his country well and was pushed to the breaking point in a very hostile place under untenable terms of engagement. Our troops are not allowed to defend themselves. Women and children are used by the Taliban. They don’t know who the enemy is.

This is Obama’s fault.Heck, Obama gave more of a break to the Fort Hood terrorist, than you are giving this young soldier.
