Santorum may be class act - and by all accounts he is.
But that doesn’t make me want him as my president. I would rather have a fighter - a mean sonafabitch fighter.
And yes, I do think we’re in a fight and yes that’s why I want a fighter.
I agree......and the stage being set Internationally is nothing Santorum can handle with his limited understanding of World Events and happenings. Can you imagine the learning curve he's going to need....and frankly there's no time for that.
Newt's on top of it all, knows the players both nationally and Internationally.....nobody other than Newt can see the whole picture and present it to the people in such a way they understand the perils we are in.
I’m a volunteer in my state as well :)
Sign holding, phone calling, donations....!!
“Its the things politicians do when the cameras dont notice...”
I agree your statement but in this case the cameras WERE running.
Just wanted to mention that.

Another story which details precisely why Rick Santorum is a good man but will not be and should not be president. God Bless him, just don’t elect him.
Very cynical and unbecoming remark.
Being a good man is not a requirement to be President.
It’s only a requirement to be a truly great one.
You are both spot on!
I would vote for Santorum if he were on the ticket as Newt’s VP. He needs a lot more on the job experience, and Newt is the guy we need to lead us now.
With Newt we would immediately regain a lot of the respect we have lost internationally. We would finally have someone in the White House with a serious plan for Energy Independence, and the Middle East would know their days of dominance were over. Israel would, for the first time since O took office, know that they had a solid ally again.
Who woulld win a stare down? Ahmadinejad or Santorum?
My husband said Rick looks like a second grader whose been up to something. I’m sure That would really intimidate our enemies.
I have also considered that Newt and Rick might have already determined Rick as Pres. and then Newt will be doing all the grunt work of moving congress.....if Santorum doesn't get Newt on board, and he wins this thing, then all bets are off...he'll fail to unite the congress...and he'll fail internationally and in many other areas because he has no expertize to do the job.
I soooo much want to see Newt as President and will be very much disappointed if he doesn't get it. But I don't underestimate Newt and how he plays his hand either and this game isn't over until Newt says it is. I want to see him go all the way to convention and he says he will do just that.
Meanwhile if I have to vote for Santorum I will, though begrudgingly I admit. He's from my state and we know well how he plays his hand and it will always and forever be to how it makes him look and to advance his political career......he's got a huge self-righteous attitude that doesn't quite and why people grew to dislike him very much...I still do and so don't many others here in Pa.
.....if he thinks he's right even if he's proved wrong he will not heed nor consider....stiff necked says it well. I just don't care for the man at all...his style nor his politics and how he mishandles so much.
Santorum was raised near where I live now... and for that I can tell why his mindset is what it is.....it’s easily discernable as being an outsider here you can distinguish the mindset.
After over 30 moves in my lifetime thus far, you learn how to adapt to the culture you’re in and siZe it up in order to get along. Rick does carry the mindset here...he is a “country boy” and in my opinion all about his career...and the prominance it gets him. Those who knew him knew well this about him and that has not changed throughout his lifetime.
As far as intimidating anyone....Not possible...as he has to keep a strong hand on his temper....which in doing so prevents him from being intimidating to anyone...otherwise he’d spout off at the mouth making ridiculous comments which we have indeed seen along the way.
“otherwise hed spout off at the mouth making ridiculous comments which we have indeed seen along the way”
Well this country just can’t risk Santorum’s pesky personality quirks right now.
Funny. Somebody observed the EXACT same thing today about this re: Rick on DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND!
Rick Santorum is much more akin to Ronald Reagan in that regard, personality wise. Tough as nails undemeath, but just a kind, gentle, likeable guy.
My best friend has given me a lot of insight on Rick from folks who know him personally. They too, said he has a self righteous attitude, is as stubborn as a Jackass, id petulant and can Meltdown in a hurry. Not a raving endorsement for a leader.
But those who are supporting him don't seem to take that as an issue...too caught up in his "stage" personality he's performing for them.......although the longer this primary goes on the more he'll expose himself, just as we've seen. In fact several have come to Newts support for how Santorum has fumbled. They recognize he has a need to be seasoned far more than he is to be a President.
He'll continue to speak on social issues because that is what he knows, but will assuredly shy away from other issues or at best stumble thru them when confronted ......that too we have seen. ... you can tell he's trying very hard to "remember" what he's been coached to say rather than presenting his response as his own.
It goes back to lacking a broader understanding of the whole picture in our country....let alone solutions he might have that he himself can call his own. He will have a very difficult time as President....much as we've seen in Obama attempting to get his way thru the system.
We just cannot afford the time and effort he will need to even adapt as President....BTW He never thought he'd get this far this time around...and his lack of preparation evidences this. So hwo in the world is going to be even remotely prepared to be President...he's not.
Yep...that's our rick...as we have known him to be and it really makes it difficult for other politicians he's had to work with...more times than not much time is wasted with his antics etc. which could be better utilized...again known for.
When he's in the debates you can see him muzzling himself, alot of energy is used to keep his lid on which is why he can appear to come off fumbling thru things, he's distracted emotionally handling himself at the same time. And when faced head on it's very apparent his feathers are ruffled.
I've watched some of his videos in congress as well, before i decided he simply isn't ready to be President. I wasn't impressed with his style of presenting his case nor defense of.
Isn’t it amazing how many people don’t study carefully the person running for the highest office in the land?
It’s good to bounce observations off each other, I think.
Your posts are always interesting and insightful. Thanks.
it is odd how many Romney supporters appear to be on this thread. RINO=ism alive and well in the land of FReeper?
