like i have said elsewhere, looks like the grassroots right (religious right & Reaganites) have conceded the base to the Paul cult. So they will have to be content to back Rand Paul in ‘16 or stay out of it.
Not even Palin could crack the cult which is draining 20% of the vote away which is 40% of the conservative vote.
Maybe I was not clear.. Leadership be damned! I certainly hope the world doesn’t think our leadership speaks for me personally. I was saying... A crazy nut job in Irans leadership does not necessarily represent the majority of people in Iran. Instead their crazy dictator will put his people in terrible danger, while he hides out in a safe zone. Therefore, his willingness to sacrifice everyone but himself does not mean every Iranian is a twelver. What you called spin, sounds more reflective of the dozen Persians I have spoken to. Same in this country.. I hope it is understood by others that US leadership may want to sacrifice me economically or other ways, they clearly do not represent me.
No, I do want the sensible Iranians to live, of course. I just don't know if simply blowing scientists up is a wise policy (not that I'm certain it was a US action - I don't think it was). I would prefer a more direct approach if we must take one. Simply stirring up a hornets nest and running away seems bizarre.
I was simply trying to point out that THIS issue is a big political loser this year. I don't think Mr. Santorum is going to win on his pet issue, which is Iran, and I don't think Mr. Paul is going to be hurt a bit by talking about giving up. I think the latter person is following American trends - it's an objective observation on my part. Something like 80% of people polled were happy to be out of Iraq. People are wary of sending their young and lovely sons and daughters over there. Yes, I blame Obama and his utter lack of vision for the region. He has none.
I do think we managed to overcome Soviet communism without direct involvement in regime change. I would prefer that model, if it were possible. I despise the fact that Mr. Obama refused to stand up for the Iranians two years ago. But I'm also suspicious of these "Democracy" movements, aka "Arab Springs". Democracy always sacrifices the weaker party, and what we're seeing now is terrible persecution of Christian in Egypt, among other places.
