Derby gay death call leaflet 'was Muslim duty'

A man who handed out a leaflet calling for homosexuals to be executed has said he was just doing his "duty as a Muslim".

Canada is haven for parents seeking sex-selective abortions

Snip: A separate article in the same issue of the Canadian Medical Association Journal warns that Canada has become “a haven for parents who would terminate female fetuses in favor of having sons” due to advanced prenatal testing and easy access to abortion.

Intelligence officer accused of passing secrets (Canada)

Snips (3):

An intelligence officer with the Canadian Forces has been arrested for allegedly passing secrets to a foreign entity or terrorist group.

The accused would have had clearance to at least top secret information, if not higher, depending on which project he was assigned to, according to the official, who would not say which other country was involved.

An expert in security matters said even when espionage activity is suspected in Canada, it rarely ends in criminal prosecution.

Three Jihadis

Snips: (4)

It is almost every day now. Jihadi attacks in America. This past week there were three attempted jihad attacks. And what does the media consider the problem? Racistislamophobicantimuslimbigots, of course. On Saturday, a Muslim named Sami Osmakac was arrested in Florida on charges of plotting to go jihad on nightclubs and the Tampa, Florida, sheriff's headquarters. "We all have to die," Osmakac said, "so why not die the Islamic way?"

Also on Sunday, a Muslim in Alabama named Luis Ibarra-Hernandez (the media did not release his Muslim name) shot out store windows and tried to get into a shootout with police officers. Gadsden, Alabama Police spokesperson Capt. Regina May said: "After the man was taken into custody, he reported that he knew he must do something extreme to draw attention to Islam and himself, so he planned to shoot police officers."

Meanwhile, the military jihad continues. Last Friday, a former U.S. Army soldier named Craig Baxam was arrested and charged with trying to join al-Shabaab, a jihad terror group in Somalia. Baxam converted to Islam while in the U.S. Military. He said he wanted to die defending Islam, and was "looking for dying with a gun in my hand."

So three jihads in one week, and an ongoing sharp increase in jihad activity in Obama's America. Yet this is never remarked upon. It is deliberately ignored. And it's astonishing. Is this what we can expect from our politicians and the media? We're under siege by the enemedia, and by craven politicians, and by the enforcers: CAIR, ISNA, ICNA, etc., that have these government agencies in their back pocket. What's it's going to take? America, where are you on this?

Political hit?

(Outspoken Iranian Feminist) Med student shot to death near Galleria (possible political hit?)
HOUSTON CHRONICLE ^ | Updated 11:17 a.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2012 | By Dale Lezon, Zain Shauk and Mike Glenn

Posted on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 1:32:19 PM by a fool in paradise

...Gelareh Bagherzadeh was studying molecular genetic technology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. She was of Iranian descent and was active in promoting Iranian women’s rights, Houston Police Department spokesman Victor Senties said. She was a vocal critic of the Iranian government, according to prior interviews with the Houston Chronicle.

Whether discrimination or her personal background was connected to her death was not clear, Senties said.

“At this point, it does not appear that she was targeted,” Senties said. Investigators do not know the motive for the shooting, he said.

Bagherzadeh was shot about 12:30 a.m. outside the family’s home in the 800 block of Augusta near Sugar Hill. After she was shot, Bagherzadeh crashed into property on the townhome complex.

Police said nothing appeared to be stolen from the vehicle.

...Bagherzadeh apparently telephoned her former boyfriend moments before her death. Lorena Lopez said she was with the former boyfriend when he got the call.

“He said she screamed for her life,” Lopez said while standing near the spot where the young woman was slain.

“He heard (tires) screeching and assumed it was a car accident,” Lopez said. “He didn’t hear a gunshot.”

...Bagherzadeh participated in protests against the Iranian government in 2010 and was among those calling for a change in the current regime as demonstrators in Tehran pushed for revolution.

At the time, she, like other outspoken protesters, requested that her last name not be used in a Houston Chronicle online video because she feared persecution.

“We want change and we want freedom in our country,” she said in the video.

She was an organizing member of SabzHouston, a group that pushed for political change in Iran.

...Anyone with information on the shooting should call the Houston Police Department at 713-308-3600.

Expert Says Beheadings in U.S. Look Like Work of Cartels
krgv.com ^ | 1/11/12 | krgv.com

Posted on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 7:30:20 PM by ColdOne

Three beheadings in two different states and they happened here in the United States, not Mexico.

Former DEA supervisor Phil Jordan says all three beheadings have cartel written all over them. They happened in Arizona and Oklahoma in the past year.

A murder mystery is now unraveling on a stretch of North Reservation Road in Tucson, Ariz. County workers found a headless man lying on the side of the road Jan. 6. The man’s hands and feet were reportedly missing, too.

“It would lead me to believe the message wanted to be sent. This is one of the ways they do it in Mexico, Colombia and other places,” says Jordan.

Jordan says the cartels are getting bolder in carrying out their beheadings across the border. He says we only used to see these crimes in Mexico.

“They don’t have any borders,” says Jordan.

More than 600 miles from the border, a 19-year-old human trafficking victim was found beheaded in Oklahoma. Carina Saunders was stuffed into a bag and left in a grocery store parking lot.

“People know if they get on the wrong side of the fence, they’ll be dealt with,” says Jordan.

The police chief in the area says two men running the trafficking ring killed Saunders to send a message to the other victims. Jordan says the cartels’ calling card is all over this case. Trafficking and smuggling are their top moneymakers. Revenge is the price of doing business.

“Definitely a cartel hit,” says Jordan.

Iranian Grad Student, Women’s Civil Rights Activist Assassinated in Houston
http://networkedblogs.com/sOfEu ^ | 1/17/2012 | Pamela Geller

Posted on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 7:44:30 PM by Morgana

This is chilling. This is in Texas.

Iranian grad student, activist killed in Houston KSAT News (hat tip Armaros)

HOUSTON - A woman whom Houston police described as an activist on behalf of Iranian women’s civil rights was found shot dead at the wheel of her car after it crashed into a townhouse garage.

Houston police said the shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. Monday in a posh development near the Galleria.

According to investigators, someone walked up to the passenger’s side of 30-year-old Gelareh Bagherzadeh’s car and shot her in the head.

Bagherzadeh’s body was found inside her running car, detectives said.

“When the officer arrived, the car’s tires were still spinning,” Officer J.C. Padilla said. “He had to reach in and turn off the motor.”

Bagherzadeh’s car was found at the back of the town home complex, and police said she had driven past her parents’ home near the front of the complex.

“We don’t know if she was being followed at the time,” Sgt. Richard Bolton said.

Investigators said Bagherzadeh was studying genetic research at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and was an only child.

Officers said Bagherzadeh’s ex-boyfriend was on the phone with her when he heard what may have been the crash and gunshots.

“He said she screamed for her life,” said Lorena Lopez, one of Bagherzadeh’s close friends. “He heard screeching and he assumed it was a car accident.”

The ex-boyfriend was questioned, but is not considered a suspect.

Detectives said they want to speak with her current boyfriend and other friends to try to piece together what happened.

“She has no enemies,” Bolton said. “She was a very caring and loving person.”

North Dakota oil production soaring

North Dakota's oil production in November was up 56 percent from a year earlier, thanks to the huge Bakken Shale play.

The state's crude output, for the first time, exceeds 500,000 barrels a day. Its production surpasses that of OPEC member Ecuador.

As jihad plots multiply, DHS slumbers on

Snip: Instead, the Obama Administration has succumbed to pressure from Muslim Brotherhood-linked groups in the United States and has promised to scrub all training materials for the FBI and other agencies of any reference to Islam or jihad in connection with Islamic terrorism. That means that law enforcement officials are now effectively forbidden to study the motives and goals of the Alabama shooter, the Florida and North Carolina plotters, the former military man, and so many others like them, for to do so would necessarily involve study and discussion of the texts and tenets of Islam.

So far so good -- if the DHS were monitoring jihadist websites, which proliferate on the internet. But it isn't. Instead, it is watching sites where it is extremely unlikely ever to encounter a jihad plotter saying anything to indicate that he is up to no good. To be sure, the monitored sites are all over the map ideologically: they include Live Leak, Vimeo, Youtube, and Flickr, as well as the Huffington Post, Newsweek Blogs and the New York Times Lede Blog -- along with the Middle East Media Research Institute, the global intelligence site Stratfor, and many, many others, including my own website, Jihad Watch. Nonetheless, given the Obama DHS's stated emphasis on "right-wing extremism," it is much more likely that when they visit Jihad Watch and other counterterror sites, agents are on the hunt for dangerous conservatives, not hoping to learn anything about jihadist beliefs, motives or activities.

Jihad plotting persists in Mosques

Snips: The Islamic advocacy establishment in the U.S. insists that all Muslims in this country happily accept Constitutional freedoms and pluralism, and that anyone who suggests otherwise is a venomous "Islamophobe." If Shehadeh's claims are true, however, Salafism, a form of hardline Islam that calls for the imposition of Islamic law in its fullness, including stonings, beheadings, amputations, and warfare against unbelievers, is being preached not just in Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Iran, but also right here in Brooklyn.

Shehadeh also named as jihad plotters, along with "a livery cab driver" and "a College of Staten Island student who attended a fund-raiser at Brooklyn College for a terrorist," an "Ethiopian Muslim in the U.S. Army." But of course it would be the height of "Islamophobia" to question Muslims in the U.S. military as to their loyalties. He even identified "a reputed member of the terror group Hamas who lives in Syracuse." Shehadeh says that in 2008 he went to "a lecture at the Brooklyn Islamic Center in 2008 with someone named 'Omar' and a second man who peddled pro-jihad T-shirts. 'Almost everything [Omar] and his friend . . . talked about was jihad.'"

The Islamist Plan for Victory: "Gradualism"

One of the mistakes that the West makes is that it doesn’t listen to what the Islamists are saying. If only we listened, we could hear their strategy. On November 20, Sheikh Yousef al-Qaradawi, the top Muslim Brotherhood theologian and arguably the most influential Sunni cleric in the world, called on Muslims to embrace “gradualism.”

The doctrine of gradualism is successful because we fail to appreciate the ability of the Islamists to be skillful political strategists. Gradualism is an intelligent form of jihad based on pragmatism, patience, long-term planning and self-evaluation. The Islamists evaluate their performance and recalibrate their strategy accordingly. The West misinterprets this as being “moderate,” when in reality, not all Islamists are as reckless as Al-Qaeda.

“Gradualism in applying the Sharia is a wise requirement to follow,” Qaradawi declared, stating that Mohammed followed it.

The Islamists, especially the Muslim Brotherhood, have always worked in stages. In December, the Brotherhood’s Supreme Guide, Mohamed Badi, outlined six phases: Sharia over the individual; Sharia over the family; Sharia over the society; Sharia over the government; the resurrection of the Caliphate and finally, “mastership of the world.” The Muslim Brotherhood is in the process of completing the fourth phase in Egypt.

In this stage, the Islamists implement Sharia by describing it as their form of “democracy” and “freedom.” They will argue that each democracy is different and so we must be tolerant of their version. Sheikh Qaradawi explains, “What I am for is a genuine type of democracy, for a society driven by the laws of Sharia that is compatible with the values of freedom, human rights, justice and equity.”

The Islamists have a comprehensive long-term strategy for victory that’s been around for decades. It’s about time that we made one of our own.

Mission accomplished in Afghanistan
By hahyrningur

Well, someone’s mission at least. Obama wasted no time tearing down what had been accomplished in Afghanistan and Iraq, now it seems to be all over but the shouting. With the usual islamist gloating.

Fresh from Ansar:

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan:

Formal proclamation of Islamic Emirate’s victory

Safar 20, 1433 A.H, Sunday, January 15, 2012

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan showed it openly to the world that it is a well-organized political power besides being a military power. It has ruled the country successfully and preserves the right and might of each and every decision of the country. It can neither accept external orders nor can it come under any one’s pressure. It is proved to the world that the Islamic Emirate is deeply rooted internally in the Afghan nation and externally in the whole Islamic Ummah. Militarily successful resistance against a gigantic international alliance, full presence on the whole soil and overall perseverance are the signs and secrets of the Islamic Emirate.

The invading countries of Afghanistan are compelled to review their policies by looking into the military and political determination, unity, organization and unshakeable stance of the Islamic Emirate.

A year ago a European diplomat said to an envoy of the Islamic Emirate:

“For a complete decade we were deceived by America and Karzai saying that a neighboring country is supervising the Taliban and can prepare them for anything. Therefore we were giving every kind of prerogatives to the authorities of that neighboring country. Although they endangered their country for this purpose but they did not succeed. If they could do something, they would have done it for the sake of these privileges. Now the world has realized that the claims of Karzai and America were only a kind of propaganda to deceive the nations worldwide. The Afghans and Taliban are not a trivial phenomenon but an ideological and national movement which should be acknowledged as a political fact.

It is but sheer determination, religious and ideological adherence and unequalled sacrifices displayed by true Afghan Mujahid nation for the last decade that today regional and world powers are after to reach mutual understanding about the country.

Today somewhere in the world if the name of the Islamic Emirate is carved and a flag with ‘Kalma tayyebaa’ (holy word of creedal testimony) is wavered on the top; it is actually the formal proclamation of the success of resistance against the incursion.

The contractors of the international invasion can no more deceive the nation by their baseless talks. They used the word ‘peace’ as a propaganda fragment to deceive the people. But today as their guardians and supporters are fed up militarily and logistically with this war and are planning for retreat, they are giving contradictory statements which show their complete confusion and embarrassment. Sometime they say that the office of the Islamic Emirate should be opened in some other country. Another time they say they have no part in this.

The choice of Qatar for the inauguration of formal office shows the political deliberation of the Islamic Emirate. If this initiative had been taken in some neighboring country, it would have been another chance of every day propaganda for Karzai administration. If the office was inaugurated in Saudi Arabia, someone else would have suspected it because of the close bilateral relations of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. And finally Turkey could not have been considered an ideal place for the sovereignty and prestige of this office because of its membership of the NATO alliance.

But Qatar having balance relations with all sides and a prestigious status in the Islamic world is the most appropriate place for this kind of office.

Although none of the Muslim countries is interested in opposing the Islamic Emirate, due to the sympathy of the masses in the Muslim world with Islamic Emirate. Even if the governments or the authorities might not be interested, they may take a careful stance on this for the sake of their people.

Now the military, political and national efficiency of the Islamic Emirate is evident, perhaps no one will benefit from the mere enmity of the Islamic Emirate. Everyone concerned should choose the rational and logical path of solving issues with Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. If the present invaders had chosen a lucid path instead of incursion, they would not have faced such a huge personnel and financial loss in Afghanistan.

We covered Fetullah Gulen some time ago but msny still don’t know who he is or what he is capable of. His activities in Texas was one of the early reasons why I could not throw my early or full support behind Rick Perry.
Below is a must read thread for anyone who still does not understand how insidious islam and its practitioners are. Know this if you know nothing else. islam IS jihad and it’s entire existence is based on world domination. There is no islam that is “different” and none that is “peaceful”.

Clinton Adviser Denies Endorsement of Turkish Islamist Paper [Zaman flagship-Gülen’s Islamist cult]
Commentary Magazine ^ | 01.17.2012 - 12:50 PM | Michael Rubin

Anne-Marie Slaughter, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s director of policy planning, now denies she endorsed Today’s Zaman, the flagship newspaper of Fethullah Gülen’s Islamist cult. Here is a google cache record with Prof. Slaughter’s endorsement, and here is the page now, with Professor Slaughter’s endorsement excised.

Professor Slaughter denies she made the endorsementThere are two possible explanations:

(1) Professor Slaughter is being truthful, and Today’s Zaman simply made it all up. If so, this suggests that the ethics of Zaman and the organization which sponsors it are non-existent.

(2) Professor Slaughter asked for the retraction only after learning about Today’s Zaman’s affiliation. Academics – and government officials – should always pay attention to sources, and understand the backgrounds of those to whom they talk. If Slaughter truly did not know that Zaman is the flagship of Gülen’s Islamist cult, then that does not reflect well on Slaughter and senior officials in the State Department.

It would behoove us to give Professor Slaughter the benefit of the doubt, however, and hope the former explanation is true. However,

Rick Perry’s dealings with gulen and aga khan, whether naive or not, is extremely dangerous.

BREAKING NEWS: Tariq Ramdan And Youssef Qaradawi Come Together At Launch Of New Qatar Center
globalmbreport.org ^ | 1-17-12 | GlobalMB

Posted on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 10:17:48 AM by bayouranger

To Be headed By Ramadan In what appears to be a highly significant coming together of Global Muslim Brotherhood leaders Tariq Ramadan and Youssef Qaradawi, Gulf media is reporting on the launch of new Islamic research center in Qatar to be headed by Ramadan. According to a Gulf News report:

12:00 January 16, 2012 Manama: A research centre specialising in Islamic legislation and ethical thought has been launched in Qatar. The Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE) was inaugurated during a one day conference on Islamic ethics that discussed the application of Islamic ethics in environment, gender, economics, education, art and bioethics. Input was given by an international panel that included His Excellency Dr Mustafa Ceric, the Mufti of Bosnia-Herzegovina and winner of the Unesco Felix Houphouet-Boigny Peace Prize and world-famous musician Yousuf Islam, who discussed the topic of Islamic ethics and the arts. “I have always been convinced, especially in light of the developments that occurred in the last decade of the third millennium, of the vital need to create a research foundation and a proficient pedagogy able to encompass the integrated system of the principles and values of central Islamic thought,” Shaikha Moza Bin Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), said. “This in turn should be presented to us Muslims and to others in a renewed vision and systematic approach that would dispel misinterpretations, exaggerations and their consequences in the forms of preconceptions and stereotypes which are contrary to the necessity of constructive dialogue,” she said on Sunday. The message of the centre must be based on universal and established principles that integrate values as part of the learning and the formation of individuals who can be agents of change, she said. CILE, the first centre, on a global scale, to focus on Islamic legislation and ethical thought, aims to gather the scholars of the text with the scholars of the context, and to reach out to a global and mixed audience of scholars, experts, students and the general public. Article continues below The centre is under the guidance of Director Tariq Ramadan, renowned Muslim thinker, alongside Jasser Auda, Deputy Director of CILE and founding member and member of the Executive Board of the International Union of Muslim Scholars. “Islamic scholars and research centres can benefit greatly from engaging with the experts in modern fields that have been untouched by the parameters of traditional questioning,” Tariq Ramadan said. “We aim to provide not only a theoretical framework, but also concrete contributions and practical applications in areas that are current and relevant to 21st Century communities, Muslim and non-Muslim alike. We are extremely excited by the contributions that will be made from this new line of questioning by reaching out to a global and mixed audience of scholars, experts, students and ordinary people,” he said. The centre is based in Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies, a member of Qatar Foundation.

The new center appears to be the latest in the series of research centers being established by the Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (QFIS). An earlier post reported that the QFIS was in the process of establishing a research center to be named after Qaradawi. Dahlia Mogahed, an associate of Global Muslim Brotherhood supporter John Esposito and herself tied to the Global Brotherhood, reported via her Twitter feed that Qaradawi was speaking at the conference discussed above. It should also be noted that Mustafa Ceric, the Grand Mufti of Bosnia is also tied to the Global Muslim Brotherhood through his membership in the European Council for Fatwa and Research (ECFR), headed by Qaradawi who also heads the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS). Yousuf Islam, the singer formerly known as Cat Stevens, has his own set of ties to the Global Brotherhood.

Tariq Ramadan is perhaps best described as an independent power center within the global Brotherhood with sufficient stature as the son of Said Ramadan, and the grandson of the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood to challenge positions taken by important Brotherhood leaders. His statements and writings have been extensively analyzed and he has been accused by critics of promoting anti-Semitism and fundamentalism, albeit by subtle means. On the other hand, his supporters promote him as as example of an Islamic reformer who is in the forefront of developing a “Euro Islam.” Ramadan is currently professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Oxford’s Faculty of Theology and senior research fellow at St. Antony’s College (Oxford), Dohisha University (Kyoto, Japan) and at the Lokahi Foundation (London). Previous posts discussed his dismissal from his positions as an adviser on integration for the city of Rotterdam and from a Dutch University over his role as a talk show host on Iranian TV. A ban on Ramadan traveling to the US was lifted in January 2010 and several posts have discussed his recent visits to the US where he appeared at various US Muslim Brotherhood venues including giving the keynote at the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR)-Chicago annual banquet in April 2010. He was scheduled to give the keynote address at the 16th annual CAIR banquet in October.

Qaradawi, a virulent anti-Semite is often referred to here as the most important leader of the global Muslim Brotherhood, an acknowledgement of his role as the de facto spiritual leader of the movement. In 2004, Qaradawi turned down the offer to lead the Egyptian Brotherhood after the death of the Supreme Guide. Based in Qatar, Sheikh Qaradawi has reportedly amassed substantial wealth through his role as Shari’ah adviser to many important Islamic banks and funds. He is also considered to be the “spiritual guide” for Hamas and his fatwas in support of suicide bombings against Israeli citizens were instrumental in the development of the phenomenon. A recent post has discussed a video compilation of Qaradawi’s extremist statements.

Writer Paul Berman best described the relationship between the Qaradawi and Ramadan in 1997:

As for Tariq Ramadan, he reveres Qaradawi above all other present-day Islamic scholars, and in one book after another he has left no room for doubt about his fealty. If anyone in the world offers a model of modern enlightened Islam, Ramadan plainly judges Qaradawi to be that person. Ramadan has contributed prefaces to two collections of Qaradawi’s fatwas in their French editions, not to mention other books written by people with one or another sort of connection to the terrorist vogue–these editions published by the Tawhid house in Lyon, which is Ramadan’s publisher as well. one of this alters the fact that Tariq Ramadan himself disapproves of terrorism. But there is a cost in having it both ways, in noisily affirming his place within the salafi reformist tradition while pretending that terrorist components of the movement belong only to a distant offshoot; or in affirming his own disapproval of violent action while exalting his grandfather’s memory; or in condemning the terrorist aspects of the Palestinian resistance while still revering Qaradawi and even, with his prefaces, bedecking himself with Qaradawi’s prestige, and bedecking Qaradawi with his own prestige.one of this alters the fact that Tariq Ramadan himself disapproves of terrorism. But there is a cost in having it both ways, in noisily affirming his place within the salafi reformist tradition while pretending that terrorist components of the movement belong only to a distant offshoot; or in affirming his own disapproval of violent action while exalting his grandfather’s memory; or in condemning the terrorist aspects of the Palestinian resistance while still revering Qaradawi and even, with his prefaces, bedecking himself with Qaradawi’s prestige, and bedecking Qaradawi with his own prestige.

What ever conflicts have transpired between them since that time, over Ramadan’s call for the suspension of “hudud” punishments prescribed in Sharia law for example, the establishment of a research center in Ramadans name by the QFIS, the role of a Qaradawi associate as deputy director, and Qaradawi’s speaking appearance at the inaugural event strongly suggest that all is well between them. The events also strongly cement the role of Qatar as the preeminent Mideast center for the Global Muslim Brotherhood.

Exclusive: World’s ‘Most Dangerous Islamist’ Alive, Well, and Living in Pennsylvania

Paul Williams, PhD

An Islamic Armed Fortress Emerges in the Pocono Mountains The most dangerous Islamist in the world is neither Afghani nor Arab.

He comes from neither Sudan nor Somalia.

And he resides in neither the mountains of Pakistan nor the deserts of the Palestinian territories.

This individual has toppled the secular government of Turkey and established madrassahs throughout the world. His schools indoctrinate children in the tenets of radical Islam and prepare adolescents for the Islamization of the world.

More than 90 of these madrassahs have been established as charter schools throughout the United States. They are funded by American taxpayers.

One of these charter schools – Tarek ibn Zayed Academy (TiZA) in Minnesota – is so radically Islamic and subversive in nature that the Minnesota Department of Education issued two citations against it and the American Civil Liberties Union is suing it. Dozens of his universities, including the Faith University in Istabul, train young men to become lawyers, accountants, and political leaders so that they can take an active part in the restoration of the Ottoman Empire and the Islamization of the Western World. He also allegedly operates compounds to train jihadis in the tactics of guerilla warfare.

This individual has amasssed a fortune – over $30 billion – for the creation of a universal caliphate. His name is Fethullan Gulen and he resides not in the wilds of southern Turkey – but the mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

From his fortess headquarters, located on 28 acres at 1857 Mt. Eaton Road in Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania, Gulen plots the overthrow of secular governments and oversees the spread of education jihad throughout Asia, Europe, and the United States.

Gulen is surrounded by an army of over 100 Turkish Islamists, who guard him and tend to his needs. The army is comprised of armed militants who wear suits and ties and do not look like traditional Islamists in cloaks and turbans. They follow their hocaefendi's (master lord’s) orders and even refrain from marrying until age 50 per his instructions. When they do marry, their spouses are expected to dress in the Islamic manner, as dictated by Gulen himself.

The Saylorsburg property consists of a massive chalet surrounded by numerous out buildings, including recreational centers, dormitories, cabins for visiting foreign dignitaries, a helicopter pad, and firing ranges.

Neighbors complain of the incessant sounds of gunfire – including the rat-tat-tat of fully automatic weapons – coming from the compound and the low flying helicopter that circles the area in search of all intruders. The FBI has been called to the scene, the neighbors say, but no action has been taken to end the illegal activity. Sentries stand guard at the gates to the estate to turn away all curiosity seekers.

Within the sentry hut are wide screen televisions that project high resolution images from security cameras. Before the hut is a sign that reads “Golden Generation Worship and Retreat Center.”

It’s hard for the local residents to understand that the Muslim who operates this compound is not an American political or intelligence official – but rather a radical Islamist from Turkey.

Gulen fled Turkey in 1998 to avoid prosecution on charges that he was attempting to undermine Turkey’s secular government with the objective of establishing an Islamic government. Since his arrival in Pennsylvania, the Department of Homeland Security has been trying to deport him. But in 2008 a federal court ruled that Gulan was an individual with “extraordinary ability in the field of education” who merited permanent residence status in the U.S.

The ruling remains quizzical because Gulen has no formal education or training.

Gulen, according to the Middle East Quarterly, was a student and follower of Sheikh Sa'id-i Kurdi (1878-1960), also known as Sa'id-i Nursi, the founder of the Islamist Nur (light) movement. After Turkey's war of independence, Kurdi demanded, in an address to the new parliament, that the new republic be based on Islamic principles. He turned against Atatürk and his reforms and against the new modern, secular, Western republic. How powerful is Gulen? And why is he such a threat to America and the Western world?

Consider this.

Turkey is now ruled by the Justice and Democratic Party (Adalet ve Kalkinma, AKP)- - a party under the Gulen’s control. Abdullah Gul, Turkey’s first Islamist President, is a Gulen disciple along with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Yusuf Ziya Ozcan, the head of Turkey’s Council of Higher Education.

Under the AKP, Turkey has transformed from a secular state into an Islamic country with 85,000 active mosques – one for every 350- citizens – the highest number per capita in the world, 90,000 imams, more imams than teachers and physicians – and thousands of state-run Islamic schools.

Despite the rhetoric of European Union accession, Turkey has transferred its alliance from Europe and the United States to Russia and Iran. It has moved toward friendship with Hamas, Hezbollah, and Syria and created a pervasive anti-Christian, anti-Jewish, and anti-America animus throughout the populace.

Speaking on Monday at the inauguration ceremony of "TRT al Turkiye," the new channel of the state run TV station TRT, Prime Minister Erdogan said Turkey will always be on the side of Muslims wherever they are.

Gulen’s tentacles stretch throughout the country since his followers, known as Fethullahists, have gained control of the country’s media outlets, its financial institutions and banks, and its business organizations. According to Bayram Balci, a Turkish scholar, the Gulen schools that have been established throughout the world seek to expand “the Islamization of Turkish nationality and the Turification of Islam” in order to bring about a universal caliphate ruled by Islamic law.

Several countries have outlawed the establishment of Gulen schools and cemaats (communities) within their borders – including Russia and Uzbekistan. Even the Netherlands, a nation that embraces pluralism and tolerance, has opted to cut funding to the Gulen schools because of their imminent threat to the social order. But Gulen’s activities in the United States, including the establishment of an armed fortress in the midst of the Pocono Mountains, have escaped national press attention.

In his public statements, Gulen espouses a liberal version of Sunni/Hanafi Islam and promotes the Muslim notion of hizmet – altruistic service to the common good. Despite the paramilitary training at his Pocono fortress, Gulen has condemned terrorism and called for interfaith dialogue. He has met with Pope John Paul II, the Greek Orthodox Patriarch Bartholomeos, and Israeli Sephardic Head Rabbi Eliyahu Bakshi-Doron.

In private, Gulen has stated that “in order to reach the ideal Muslim society ‘every method and path is acceptable, [including] lying to people.’”

In a sermon that was aired on Turkish television, Gulen said:

You must move in the arteries of the system without anyone noticing your existence until you reach all the power centers … until the conditions are ripe, they [the followers] must continue like this. If they do something prematurely, the world will crush our heads, and Muslims will suffer everywhere, like in the tragedies in Algeria, like in 1982 [in] Syria … like in the yearly disasters and tragedies in Egypt. The time is not yet right. You must wait for the time when you are complete and conditions are ripe, until we can shoulder the entire world and carry it … You must wait until such time as you have gotten all the state power, until you have brought to your side all the power of the constitutional institutions in Turkey … Until that time, any step taken would be too early—like breaking an egg without waiting the full forty days for it to hatch. It would be like killing the chick inside. The work to be done is [in] confronting the world. Now, I have expressed my feelings and thoughts to you all—in confidence … trusting your loyalty and secrecy. I know that when you leave here—[just] as you discard your empty juice boxes, you must discard the thoughts and the feelings that I expressed here.

Why has the federal government opted to turn a blind eye to Gulen and his mountain fortress?

Why have Gulen’s madrassahs been kept under the radar screen of Hoimeland Security?

Why have the CIA and FBI allowed Gulen to wreck havoc and topple secular governments without interruption or intervention?

The questions beg answers.

FR THREAD: What is Islam's Gulen movement?

FBI Launches investigation of Gulen and his movement

"Court records show that Gulen has amassed assets in excess of $25 billion."

"The kick-backs are allegedly used to establish more schools - - all of which are funded by U.S. taxpayers. "

"Gulen schools are among the nation’s largest users of the H1B visas. In 2009, the schools received government approvals for 684 visas - more than Google Inc. (440). The Harmony School, a Gulen-related institution, has applied for more H1B visas than any educational institution in the country." ~~~~~~~~~~~~`

"A principal aim of the Gulen schools, a federal official said, is to foster political support and goodwill toward Turkey, which is governed by the Justice and Development Party (AKP), a party created by Gulen from his 45-acre estate in Pennsylvania.

[Note to self: Can this be true?]

"Students, according to sources, are “brain-washed” to support the AKP and to take part in Gulen’s grandiose plan to restore the Ottoman Empire. the pro-Islamic prime minister, whose government recently detained journalists after they alleged that Gulen followers were infiltrating security agencies.

"Under the AKP, Turkey has transformed from a secular state into an Islamic country with 85,000 active mosques - - one for every 350- citizens - - the highest number per capita in the world, 90,000 imams, more imams than teachers and physicians - - and thousands of state-run Islamic schools."

Fethullah Gülen's Grand Ambition: Turkey's Islamist Danger --- Winter 2009

As Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi, AKP) begins its seventh year in leadership, Turkey is no longer the secular and democratic country that it was when the party took over. The AKP has conquered the bureaucracy and changed Turkey's fundamental identity. Prior to the AKP's rise, Ankara oriented itself toward the United States and Europe.

Today, despite the rhetoric of European Union accession, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has turned Turkey away from Europe and toward Russia and Iran and reoriented Turkish policy in the Middle East away from sympathy toward Israel and much more toward friendship with Hamas, Hezbollah, and Syria. Anti-American, anti-Christian, and anti-Semitic sentiments have increased.

Behind Turkey's transformation has been not only the impressive AKP political machine but also a shadowy Islamist sect led by the mysterious hocaefendi (master lord) Fethullah Gülen; the sect often bills itself as a proponent of tolerance and dialogue but works toward purposes quite the opposite. Today, Gülen and his backers (Fethullahcılar, Fethullahists) not only seek to influence government but also to become the government.

Turkey's AKP: a skilful leader and a tightening grip --- Dec 2011

"Every election in Turkey is seen as a referendum on Erdogan. “There’s no AKP without Erdogan,” said political scientist and Turkey specialist Dorothée Schmid of the French Institute for International Relations (IFRI). “He has all the power, and once again he has largely dominated the electoral campaign.”"

GULEN-LED COUP — TURKEY FALLS TO ISLAMISTS

By Donna Garner and Alice Linahan

While most of us have been focused on the U. S. debt ceiling and the serious implications for the world’s financial markets, meanwhile another country has just fallen to the Islamists: Turkey.

Turkey has been friendly toward the United States for many years, and one of our largest bases is in Incirlik, Turkey. This base is essential to our operations in the Middle East.

This last Thursday (7.29.11) Reuters News Service and the British Broadcasting Company broke the news that the Islamic Prime Minister of Turkey, Tayyip Erdogan, had seized control of the government and the military when Turkey’s top four military commanders (secularists who have stood against Turkey becoming an Islamist state) resigned under pressure.

These four commanders were in charge of the Turkish air, navy, and land forces. Erdogan’s own choice for commander has now been put in charge of the Turkish military.

DISCREDITING MILITARY COMMANDERS

During the two years leading up to last Thursday, Erdogan and his AKP party have put over 400 people on trial in hearings dominated by Erdogan-appointed judges, including 250 military personnel (almost 10% of their military senior commanders).

More than 58 journalists have been detained without due process for speaking out about the Erdogan government.

On 7.25.11, The Committee to Protect Journalists sent a letter to the Turkish Minister of Justice protesting the detainments. The letter specifically objected to the seizure by the Turkish police of a draft of Ahmet Şık’s unpublished book, The Imam’s Army, that details the influence of Islamic scholar Fethullah Gulen on the Turkish state.

Turkish citizens believe the charges are trumped up in order to discredit those who believe in keeping Turkey a secularist (pro-American/pro-Israeli/pro-European) state.

TURKISH PRIME MINISTER ERDOGAN A FOLLOWER OF FETHULLAH GULEN

Erdogan is a follower of Fethullah Gulen. Since Erdogan took over as Prime Minister in 2002, Gulen/Erdogan/AKP have allegedly orchestrated two trumped up plots called “Ergenekon” and “Sledgehammer.”

FIRST REASON WHY AMERICA SHOULD BE WORRIED

The first reason that we Americans should be concerned about the Islamist coup in Turkey is that Turkey is a member of NATO; and on March 28, 2011, our own President, pro-Muslim Obama, placed our coalition military operations in Libya under NATO control.

This means that our U. S. military personnel fighting under the NATO flag are partially controlled by Turkey which has now turned against America and Israel and is well on its way to becoming an Islamic state. Turkey has the second-largest army in NATO.

SECOND REASON WHY AMERICA SHOULD BE WORRIED

Our second reason for concern is that Fethullah Gulen lives in Pennsylvania, runs his $25 billion international network from there, and is tied to hundreds of Gulen charter schools right here in the United States. (Texas alone has 36 of these Gulen charter schools.)

Gulen plans to take America over in almost exactly the same way that he has taken Turkey over — through the indoctrination of our school children; and ironically, we taxpayers are paying for his Gulen charter schools.

FETHULLAH GULEN BEHIND ENROGAN

Who is behind Turkish Prime Minister Enrogan and the AKP? Fethullah Gulen is an Islamist imam who is considered by many to be the “most dangerous man in the world.”

As Ahmet Sik, a Turkish journalist now under arrest, was being dragged away to jail by the Turkish security forces, he yelled, “Whoever touches the Gulen movement gets burned!”

GULENIST BELIEFS

Turkey’s ruling party is the AKP led by Prime Minister Erdogan. He is a Muslim, believes in Sharia law, and is a follower of Fethullah Gulen.

Erdogan was elected in 2003 and was recently re-elected in June 2011 because working in clandestine operations with the Gulenists, he has been able to control and coerce the Turkish masses through fear.

Two of the basic tenets that Fethullah Gulen uses to indoctrinate his followers at an early age are (1) “taquiya” which is an Islam belief that permits them to lie to “infidels” (i.e., anyone who is not a Muslim), and (2) total secrecy — a belief that if a person never shares a secret, then he never has to worry about his secrets becoming known. In fact, secrecy is an obsession for Gulenists. In Pearls of Wisdom, Gulen explains, “The secret is your slave but you become its slave if you disclose it.”

Dr. Aland Mizell, a leading Gulenist researcher, stated:

What Gulenists want is total power and one-man rule; they want a status so that none could dare to object to them or to their leader, because they sincerely believe that Allah has chosen them to disseminate their brand of Turkish Islam to the world, and therefore that everything they do is right and without mistakes.

THE GULENIST PLOT TO OVERTHROW TURKEY

Prior to Gulen/AKP/Erdogan, Turkey was pro-America, pro-Israel, and pro-European. Turkey is one of 28 members of NATO but has the second-largest army.

Now Gulen/AKP/Erdogan have formed close alliances with Russia, Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah, and Syria.

Gulen has set the political agenda in Turkey using his followers in AKP.

Gulen controls a worldwide, $25 billion network of media, financial institutions, associations, and foundations.

Gulen is an Islamist imam who considers himself to be a prophet.

His sermons indicate that he intends for Turkey and the entire world to become Islamist and to follow Sharia law. He wants to establish a caliph and the re-establishment of the Ottoman Empire. Several years ago, Turkish television aired footage of Gulen saying:

You must move in the arteries of the system without anyone noticing your existence until you reach all the power centers…You must wait for the time when you are complete and conditions are ripe, until we can shoulder the entire world and carry it…The philosophy of our service is that we open a house somewhere and, with the patience of a spider, we lay our web to wait for people to get caught in the web…

In 1971, Gulen was arrested in Turkey for holding secret religious activities in which he ran illegal summer camps to indoctrinate youth.

Gulen has groomed his image to make him look as if he is a “tolerant” Muslim, but he is actually a follower of Sa’id-I Nursi, the founder of the Islamist Nur (light) movement.

Gulen/Nur intend for Islamists to take over the world and establish an Islamic caliphate that follows Sharia law.

In 1998, Gulen escaped to America to avoid being questioned about his involvement to overthrow Turkey’s pro-American/pro-Israel government.

Bill Clinton was President at the time. Bill and Hillary Clinton and the CIA welcomed Gulen and promoted him as being an outstanding scholar who represented a peaceful, “secular” form of Islam.

When President George W. Bush took office in January 2001 and America experienced the radical Muslim terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, the Bush administration (along with Karen Hughes who now promotes the Gulen charter schools) evidently wanted to appear to be “politically correct” and, therefore, fell for Gulen’s lies.

Now the United States has a Muslim-friendly President in the White House who has appointed Dalia Mogahed as his Muslim advisor. Mogahed is a Gulenist.

GULEN’S LIFE IN AMERICA

Gulen lives in eastern Pennsylvania with 100 followers who guard him and tend to his needs. His male followers try to blend into American society by wearing suits and ties, and they do not marry until age 50. Their spouses are expected to dress in the Islamic manner as dictated by Gulen.

Gulen runs his international network from Pennsylvania, and he and his next-in-command (Nurettin Veren) say they control 75% of the schools and universities in Turkey plus hundreds of schools in 110 countries worldwide.

Gulenists have targeted children to indoctrinate them to become the ruling class of the Islamist, Turkish state. Under Erdogan, textbooks have been changed, Islam has been emphasized, and thousands of imams have been placed into positions as teachers and administrators in the schools.

GULENIST-EDUCATED CHILDREN NOW IN HIGH PLACES

In an interview in 2008, Veren said, “Children whom we educated in Turkey are now in the highest positions. There are governors, judges, military officers. There are ministers in the government. They consult Gulen before doing anything.”

Gulenists have also taken over the 200,000 Turkish police force. Veren said, “There are imam security directors; imams wearing police uniforms. Many police commissioners get their orders from imams.”

Those in the police academies who were not Gulenists were dismissed, and the AKP promotes only those officers who are totally dedicated to Gulen.

In 2008 Endogan ordered the arrests of the people who were speaking out against this Gulen takeover.

Wiretapping by Gulenists has penetrated Turkey to the highest levels, and they have managed to restrist technology so that secretly recorded meetings of those opposed to Gulen/AKP/Erdogan have been made public.

Turkish journalists have also had their wires tapped because the head of the police wiretapping unit is a Gulenist.

Anti-AKP demonstrators have experienced violent police brutality, and private citizens who have spoken out about Erdogan/AKP have been abducted and brutalized.

TURKISH INSTITUTIONS FALL TO GULENISTS

Traditionally, the Turkish military has been the guarantor of the Constitution; but now according to Veren (Gulen’s top man), the Gulenists have entrenched themselves within the military also. Veren stated:

The Fethullahist military officers were once our students, who we financially supported, educated, and assisted. When these grateful children graduated and reached influential positions, they put themselves and their positions at the service of Fethullah Gulen…when Gulen students graduate from the police or military academies — as do the new doctors and lawyers — they present their first salaries to Fethullah Gulen as a gesture of their gratitude.

Gulenists have also taken over the Turkish court system because Erdogan replaced thousands of judges and prosecutors with his own AKP/Gulen followers. Anybody applying for judgeships has to pass an AKP review.

In years past, the Turkish media used to be relentless about exposing government corruption; but when Erdogan came to power in his first term, he filed “frivolous” lawsuits against 63 journalists in 16 publications. This successfully dissuaded journalists’ from ferreting out corruption.

During Erdogan’s ten year rule, his government has seized control of Sabah-ATV, which was Turkey’s second largest media group. Then Erdogan made his son-in-law the CEO of the group.

Now nine of the leading TV, radio stations, and newspapers are all owned by AKP/Gulen.

It is no wonder that Erdogan won re-election in June 2011 since he and the AKP controlled most of the media, the military, the security forces, and the courts.

GULEN — THREAT TO AMERICA

Homeland Security and the U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Service tried to deny Gulen permanent residence in the Unites States. In 2008 Gulen brought a lawsuit against Michael Chertoff of Homeland Security. The Department contended that Gulen did not meet the definition of a person with “extraordinary ability in the field of education” but that he was actually a “leader of a large and influential religious and political movement with immense commercial holdings.” The State tried to prove that the acclaim that Gulen touted was actually sponsored or financed by his own movement.

Gulen evidently managed to “pay off” enough institutions and high-profile people to mount pressure to get his status reversed, and the 29 letters of reference that he filed with his motion came from theologians or Turkish political figures closely associated with his Gulenist movement. The judge ruled in Gulen’s favor, and now he can stay in the United States permanently.

SPREAD OF GULEN SCHOOLS IN TEXAS

One of the most disheartening reports has been the connections of former executive director of the Republican Party and trusted advisor to President George W. Bush, Karen Hughes and her close ties to the Gulen/Cosmos Foundation’s Harmony Schools here in Texas. As you can hear in this video Ms. Hughes is very interested in promoting Harmony Science Charter Schools and accessing Texas tax dollars to create competition for public schools by funding the Gulen/Harmony charter schools.

In a bold move, the Gulen/Cosmos Foundation/Harmony Charter Schools have now branched out from their usual “math and science” venues into a brand new school to open soon in Austin, Texas.

This new Gulen school will be called the Harmony School of Political Science. This means that at taxpayers’ expense, Turkish teachers (many of whom are here on H-1 visas and are Muslims) will be teaching our students “American” history. Can you imagine how these teachers who can hardly speak English and are fresh from Turkey will present such historically significant elements as the Holocaust, the Founding Fathers, the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution?

Yes, all teachers in Texas (including those in the Gulen schools) are to follow the state-approved curriculum requirements; but nothing constrains teachers from teaching those requirements with a particular political spin. Since almost all of the terrorists who have declared jihad against Americans are Muslims, then it should make us very skeptical about having Muslim teachers teach our Texas students to love, respect, and appreciate America.

ACTION STEP

A protest rally will be held on the public sidewalk in front of Harmony School of Political Science – Austin, Texas — on Aug. 30, 2011, from 9:00 to 10:00 A. M.

People in the Austin area should definitely commit to be at the rally since this Harmony School of Political Science is being opened right there in your own city.

Please bring signs (without any wooden or metal stakes), wear T-shirts, display “sandwich-type” posters (affixed to front and back of body), or create other visual displays that are in line with the City of Austin laws (posted at bottom of this e-mail).

Notwithstanding the fact that Rick Perry has never mentioned Fethullah Gulen or his schools in Texas (to my knowledge---and nor does this article), this thread article is instructive.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fact Check: Why Rick Perry is Right About Turkey by Daniel Greenfield--Jan 17, 2012
Fact checkers and truth squads are the media's latest tool for blurring the line between the editorial page and the new page. The ubiquitous fact checks are editorializing dressed up as verification. While on some occasions there are actual facts to verify, for the most part the fact checks defend a partisan liberal viewpoint on a particular issue.
So no sooner did Rick Perry suggest that Turkey had no place in NATO and that some perceive its government to be run by Islamic terrorists than the media rolled out its fact checks. In the spirit of fact checking the fact checkers, let's have a fact check of our own.
CNN Statement: "Turkey is not ruled by Islamic terrorists. It is led by a party with Islamist roots, the Justice and Freedom Party, or AKP."
Those are the facts according to CNN's Truth Squad, which took its name from a certain book by George Orwell. But let's look at the actual facts.
The Facts: The AKP emerged out of a series of banned Islamist political movements. CNN's Lie Squad mentions that the AKP's current leader of Turkey Erdogan was banned for reading an Islamic poem in public. It neglects to mention the content of the poem.
"The minarets are our bayonets; the domes are our helmets. Mosques are our barracks, the believers are soldiers. This holy army guards my religion. Almighty, Our journey is our destiny, the end is martyrdom."
It also neglects to mention the context in which it was read, at protests that were being conducted by Islamists after their Welfare Party was disqualified. Erdogan was not jailed for reading an Islamic poem, he was jailed for reading a poem calling for a violent Islamic overthrow of the government.
Erdogan was specifically convicted of "inciting hatred based on religious differences." There's quite a difference between noting that Erdogan was convicted of Islamic bigotry and just writing that he was convicted for reading an Islamic poem. Would CNN write equally vaguely that David Irving was put on trial for writing a book?
What exactly was the Welfare Party? It was an Islamist party under Prime Minister Erbakan, Erdogan's Islamist predecessor. Erbakan gave some of his thoughts to the press a few years ago in which he explained that the Jews run the world, organized the Crusades, control all the money and created the Protestant Church.
The AKP's leaders emerged out of Erbakan's Milli Görüs based movements. Another group that emerged out of Milli Görü is IHH which has been designated as a terrorist group by the United States government and has ties to Al Qaeda. Erdogan maintains close ties to IHH and his son is a member.
Erdogan has his own Al Qaeda connections. Yasin Al-Qadi, who funneled millions to Al Qaeda is a close friend and though his assets have been frozen worldwide, he enjoys a safe haven in Turkey. The co-founder of the AKP party, Erdogan's senior and advisor and right hand man, Cuneyt Zapsu gave Al Qaeda a mere 300,000 dollars.
Mohammed Fatih al-Hassanein, the head of an Al Qaeda front charity who helped shelter Bin Laden, met privately with Erdogan and the local Al Qaeda franchise has an office in Turkey where it puts out its propaganda magazine.
So while technically Erdogan and Gul are not going out and planting bombs, they have close ties to those who do and they support them. Islamist parties have gone two routes. They have infiltrated the political system when possible and when impossible they have turned to terrorism. Erdogan's poem made it quite clear that he was contemplating the latter. Had the AKP not succeeded then Erdogan might be giving orders to plant bombs in public places. Since it didn't he instead supports terrorist groups like Hamas.
Is it inaccurate to say that Turkey is ruled by people perceived by some as Islamic terrorists? Some inside Turkey even perceive the AKP that way. Can AKP leaders be described as Islamic terrorists? A co-founder and a board member of the AKP is an Al Qaeda donor. Erdogan protected a leading Al Qaeda moneyman who was designated as a terrorist by just about every government and law enforcement agency on the planet.
Responding to Perry the Turkish Foreign Ministry sneered that Turkey had been in NATO when Perry was two years old. Which is a nice line, but that Turkey no longer exists. Erdogan's AKP controlled system has purged the military with the claim the claim of a vast conspiracy that makes Stalin's Moscow Trials seem credible. Comparing the Turkey of then to the present day is like comparing the Germany which joined the League of Nations in 1926 to Adolf Hitler's Germany. Turkey still has the same name, but it is no longer the same country, instead it's an Islamic empire.
Finally does Turkey belong in NATO? Aside from its terrorist flirtations, there is Turkey's continued occupation of Cyprus. The Republic of Cyprus is an EU member, a third of whose territory is occupied by Turkish settlers. Turkish ethnic cleansing of the native peoples of Cyprus remains a blot on NATO along with the numerous other atrocities that have been carried out and continued to be carried out by the Turkish state.
In addition to Turkey's genocide of Armenians, there is its continued repression of its Kurdish population. The Turkish state holds tens of thousands of political prisoners, many of them for the mere crime of speaking their native language. Turkish forces have repeatedly invaded Iraqi Kurdistan, massacring the civilian population and are even suspected of using chemical weapons.
Hundreds of Kurdish children sit in Turkish jail for merely participating in political protests. The members of a Kurdish children's choir which visited San Francisco and sang a Kurdish folk song were put on trial. Their choir director has an arrest warrant still out for her and remained in the United States.
Does a brutal regime that oppresses its own population, occupies the territory of an EU member state and supports terrorists belong in NATO?
Is there any reasonable person who is not a member of the press or a diplomat who really thinks that it does? Take a look at a list of NATO members like Canada, the United States, Portugal, Norway and Turkey... and see which one doesn't belong on that list.
The only reason why Turkey became part of NATO was because of Cold War strategic geography. But the Soviet Union is gone and today's Turkey is aligned with Iran and other Islamic states that we are likely to end up fighting one day.
While the media continues claiming that the AKP is moderate, its own history and alliances show otherwise. Moderate governments do not stack jails full of political prisoners, they do not conduct an occupation of an EU member state, they do not make common cause with terrorists or endorse Islam over the rights of all citizens.
Telling the truth about Erdogan and the AKP is about more than condemning a gang of Islamst thugs who have used Saudi money to seize control of what was once the most modern Muslim country. It is also about affirming the rights of its victims, the native people of Cyprus, and the Armenians and the Kurds. It is about standing up for the values of freedom and democracy over the terror and tyranny of a man who wants to turn Turkey into another Iran.
CNN along with the New York Times and much of the rest of the media has chosen to repeat the same tiresome lies. Maybe for once their fact checks should actually involve using the facts.
Charter Schools Tied to Turkey Grow in Texas---June 6, 2011
====================================================
Islamist Gülen Movement Runs U.S. Charter Schools---Mar 2010
A secretive foreign network of Islamic radicals now operates dozens of charter schools -- which receive government money but are not required to adopt a state-approved curriculum -- on U.S. soil. The inspirer of this conspiratorial effort is Fethullah Gülen, who directs a major Islamist movement in Turkey and the Turkish Diaspora but lives in the United States. He is number thirteen among the world's "50 most influential Muslims," according to one prominent listing.
Gülen has been criticized as the puppet master for the current Turkish government headed by the "soft Islamist" Justice and Development Party, known by its Turkish initials as the AKP, in its slow-motion showdown with the secularist Turkish military. But Gülen is also known in Muslim countries for his network of 500-700 Islamic schools around the world, according to differing sources favorable to his movement. A more critical view of Gülen's emphasis on education asserts that his international network of thousands of primary and secondary schools, universities, and student residences is a key element in solidifying an Islamist political agenda in Turkey.
But in startling news for Americans, the Gülen movement operates more than 85 primary and secondary schools on our soil. A roster of the Gülen schools and of the numerous foundations that support them has been released to the public by the patriotic group Act! for America. The Gülen schools are often designated as "science academies" and are concentrated in Texas, Ohio, and California -- with others scattered across the rest of the country.
Two states that host Gülen charter schools are Arizona and Utah. In the former, the Daisy Education Corporation (the Gülen movement loves friendly-sounding institutional names) operates three schools in Tucson: one serving kindergarten through the eighth grade, another designated as an elementary school, and a middle-high school, all under the rubric of the Sonoran Science Academy. In Phoenix, it runs a satellite kindergarten-to-10th-grade campus with the same name.
The appearance of Gülen charter schools in Tucson has produced critical attention in local media. The Tucson Weekly published a report at the end of 2009 noting that the Sonoran Science Academy in the southern Arizona town had been named "charter school of the year" by the Arizona Charter School Association. But writer Tim Vanderpool reported that according to one dismayed parent, who declined identification while pointing out the Gülen movement's history of intimidating critics, "the Sonoran Academy seems constantly to be bringing Turkish educators into the United States, and subjecting students to substitute teachers while the teachers await work visas." Vanderpool submits that "several Sonoran Academy parents believe the school has a hidden agenda to promote Gülen's brand of Turkish nationalism, advance sympathy for that country's political goals such as winning acceptance into the European Union, and discourage official acknowledgment of Turkey's genocide against the Armenians during World War I." Such issues are exotic, to say the least, for Tucson parents.
Earlier in 2009, the Beehive Science and Technology Academy, a high school in Salt Lake City, came under similar critical scrutiny from the Salt Lake Tribune. That major daily's writer, Kirsten Stewart, reported that the Utah State Charter Board had begun an investigation of the Beehive school following complaints from a former teacher and an alarmed parent. The complainants asserted that while "Beehive advertises itself as a public charter school offering college-bound seventh through 12th graders a foundation in math and science ... the school has another mission: to advance and promote certain Islamic beliefs. They point to questionable financial transactions and hiring practices as proof of the school's covert ties to Turkish Muslim preacher Fethullah Gülen."
But while Fatih Karatas, principal of the Sonoran Science Academy middle school in Tucson, flatly denied any connection with the Gülen movement, Beehive principal Muhammet "Frank" Erdogan in Salt Lake City admitted such links in the case of his school. The Salt Lake Tribune quoted his admission that along with him, "many of Beehive's teachers and founders also support Gülen's ideals." The paper also described how "Adam Kuntz, a first-year history teacher at Beehive, was fired [in spring 2009], he alleges, for taking academic freedom concerns to the state board. Earlier in the school year, Kuntz had a run-in with Erdogan over a lesson plan on World War II and the Holocaust. Erdogan wanted Kuntz to revise the plan and during a tape-recorded meeting, questioned conventional accounts of the genocide."
Kelly Wayment, a parent of three children in the school, was removed from his post on the Beehive administrative board after he e-mailed other parents about Gülen movement influence in the school. Wayment told the Salt Lake Tribune that as in the Tucson case, teachers "tend to be from Turkey and central Asian republics living here on work visas."
Americans should ask both why and how the Islamist Gülen movement has managed to establish such a large presence for Turkish religious political indoctrination in publicly financed education -- and should unite to oppose it.
Obama Will Give Missile Tech To Russia Despite Law
The Western Center for Journalism ^ | January 19, 2012 | Craig Covello
Posted on Thursday, January 19, 2012 11:14:06 PM by Tolerance Sucks Rocks
It appears that Barack Obama has again ignored the rule of law by signing a defense appropriations bill that prohibits him sharing vital United States leading-edge strategic US missile technology with Russia, yet he has told both houses of Congress that he plans to share the US missile technology anyway. Why is this important? Because it goes light-years beyond partisan politics and into an area where our national defense will be put at unreasonable risk. It is believed that the Russians will pass this technology onto China, Iran and North Korea.
I find it bitterly ironic that this president pushes an agenda of excessive government regulation and oversight under the guise of consumer safety. Virtually everything in our homes, offices and automobiles is regulated to some extent by federal bureaucracy. Yet at the same time, he’s subjecting tens of millions of American lives to unreasonable risk by unilaterally giving away our deepest US missile technology to nations hostile to American interests.
So here’s the bottom line. There are those of us who would vote for a Republican candidate because we do not believe in the agenda of this administration. Then there are those of us who would vote again for Barack Obama under the belief that he will take care of us financially by redistributing wealth so that everyone can be more or less equal regardless of skills, talent or work ethic. There’s just one problem. If you take away the United States military’s ability to protect this great nation from a nuclear missile launched from North Korea or even someday Iran, then the concept of federal cradle-to-grave protection and enablement probably loses most of its meaning, doesn’t it?
If you’re concerned, then you might want to watch this video produced by Dick Morris. I think Dick sums it up best when he says that this president
“has defined the opinion of both houses of Congress, both political parties, in pursuit of some phantom agenda of getting the Russians to like us a little bit more…. I think we will beat this guy in November, but we may not have a country by then.”
Admittedly, that last statement was designed to be dramatic in order to get our attention, but it underscores what I’ve been writing about for the last three years. We have a President of the United States who believes he’s more of a king than a servant of the people. And letting one man, regardless of who he is, make decisions and dictate unilaterally to the other 300 million of us is not only unsettling and frustrating, it’s extremely dangerous. The framers of the Constitution knew that all too well. Unfortunately, too many Americans have little understanding of the timeless principles that founded this country.
And if you don’t understand the value of what you have, history has shown that you are sure to lose it.
Ah...I thought this article below curious.
Now, in light of your post....
The former secretary of state, he added, “is back in Moscow to continue the kind of strategic dialogue with the Russian government that is so important to our partnership.”
Mr. Putin has cited Mr. Kissinger as a trusted foreign policy adviser.
