Thanks for the links.
Ghostwritten articles from a newsletter circa 1996? Is that all? Got anything better or more recent?
Maybe he stiffed a waiter in 2001? Or picked his nose in 2003?

C’mon, they’re trying hard to toss things at Ron Paul to see if they can get something to stick. They’re getting pretty desperate to derail him. Must be his politics sound pretty good to Americans if all they have is the leftist crap left, screaming “racist” and “crazy” and “senile.”

Exactly. This sounds less like principled opposition and more like white-knuckled fear. Not the fear that Ron Paul will do anything particularly rash, but the fear that he says what he means and he means what he says. And he says and means to cut the size and scope of government drastically.
My personal theory is that a lot of so called “conservatives” like the idea of conservatism in theory. But only so long as their own personal ox is not being gored in reality. They’re ‘conservative BUTS.’ They want to cut the size of government BUT for that piece of the pie that they feel is important.
The problem is, pretty much everyone has something that they think is important that they want to see money spent on. And it’s not the same thing. Some folks favor defense, others welfare, others agriculture, others law enforcement, etc. And it all adds up. So, when faced with someone whose solution is to simply take an ax to prety much all of these programs, they’re scared witless that their own pet priorities will fall under that ax as well.
Which wife was Newt on at that point? What flip had Romney flopped on? So much to keep track of...
