An open border means poverty has given way to opportunity, and Mexicos citizens do not feel compelled to cross the border to find that opportunity.
It means we have addressed pollution concerns, made substantial progress in stopping the spread of disease, and rid our crossings of illicit drug smuggling activity. Clearly we have a long way to go in addressing those issues. At the same time we must continue to deepen our economic ties, expanding opportunities for Mexican and U.S. companies to do business on both sides of the border -------------------------------------------------------

OK, now what is this about with the bird thingy? I’ve completely missed it
Perry rocks!
What a stirring, beautiful, inspiring speech. And I know when Rick Perry spoke, his audience knew he believed everything he said. Israel and national security are “not a campaign box to check off” for Gov. Perry.
Thank you so much for posting.
Thanks for posting the text, smoothy! Perry does very well outside of the debate formats, which don’t give candidates time to think and speak their true thoughts.
Sounds very similar to the relationship we have with Canada.
When Perry is in his element you simply cannot beat him. He is such a caring individual.
Great speech. Needed to be said and he said it well.
I’d be ok with that ticket.
Maybe it’s just me being super sensitive, but I think anti-Perry posters who get on a Perry thread should state the name of the candidate they favor to give us an opportunity to compare candidates.
I’m no longer getting on Newt threads. If I did, my tagline would clearly reveal who my candidate is.
That was a wonderful speech, and Fox News actually gave Gov. Perry 4 or 5 minutes this morning to talk about protecting the Judeo-Christian faith from being trashed in this country. He did well on the subject.
Me too. Iowa is such a different ball game in January. National polls mean nothing. IN Iowa it’s the depth of support not the breadth. Caucus members have to fight for a candidate. Perry has a great Iowa strategy from what I’ve heard and read.

Thanks smoothsailing. Apropos of nothing, did anyone watch Matt Liar, er, Lauer, interview (sic) Dan Quayle this morning?
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
