Yeah, China will probably subsidize them and stay out of their way, while stealing every bit of the tech they can get their hands on. Then Gates can turn around and charge America an arm and a leg for it when we finally reform our laws to allow us to use it.
The article is wrong, its not depleted uranium, its yellow cake basically almost unrefined uranium ore.
The research, past the initial design phase must be done outside the USA because the energy department won’t allow it. They won’t allow thorium reactors either. Our gov policies are so screwed up, that we won’t even allow breader reactors, (to use up the depleted uranium fuel rods ie nuke waste, which still contain 90% or their energy) Breader reactors create plutonium which, we have run out of and now we have to buy it from the russians, assuming they will sell it. Plutonium is how we power space reactors, see voyager 1 and 2.
Yeah, all controlled by Windows, on initial start up it will crash.
Guys, you may joke all you want about BSODs (and I haven’t seen one of those in a looooong time) and Windows, but you cant deny the fact he’s one of USA’s most successful entrepreneurs. Microsoft might have its grey areas. No one in business is truly a saint, but his foundation gives a lot as well.
The fact that he can’t do something in the country he was successful to start with but doing is able to do so in a polar opposite country is disturbing indeed.
I would rather see Gates do his stuff in the US rather than in China anyday. But as some of you commented above, too many stumbling blocks, NIMBY and anti-nuclear activist groups have literally made it impossible.
