I am well aware of how politics works. It is more wishful thinking in getting rid of Newt.

I am hoping Rick Perry will catch on a second time. Too bad he blew his best chance. But I can still hope.

I vote for the R in the general in case you’re wondering. Didn’t you and I already go round on this a couple of days ago?

The “big government” of Teddy Roosevelt was tiny.

There ws no income tax, Woodrow Wilson instituted the following in 1913: Federal Reserve Act, Federal Trade Commission Act, the Clayton Antitrust Act, the Federal Farm Loan Act and an income tax.

TR was WW’s political enemy. TR was a strong executive. So were Lincoln and Reagan. Beck has to use TR as a fall guy because TR was the early Progressive. TR was not WW or Hilary Clinton or Obama.

Teddy Roosevelt becomes an evil progressive ...Sorry, Beck has a long way to go to prove TR a bum

You mean the early 1900's prgoressive battle flag with TR's pic and the word 'Progressive' on the top that he showed last night on GBTV isn't enough? You can lead a horse to water but TR is a turd.

"Yes, the next republican president will repeal Obamacare. That is political reality."

Not if it's Newt or Mitt. That's a pipe-dream. Mitt's been in the tank for an individual mandate since day one, and Newt's not going to bite the hand that's kept him and Callista housed and fed the last 15 years.

Unlike mane couch potatoes, Newt is willing to do research - and then change course.

Not many in here do any independent research - but a lot of regurgitating of media/demRat talking points

But there’s a difference between voting for the GOP nominee, whoever he or she is, and voting in the primaries. Now is the time to at least try to vet people as much as possible so at least conservatives know what they’re getting.

The "tiny" government of Teddy Roosevelt added the Department of Commerce and Labor and gave us unprecedented interference in banking and business which led to widespread financial panic which led to -- ironically but what we have now come to expect -- calls for greater interference.

He led the charge for NAFTA . . .

Negotiations on the NAFTA agreement between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico began in 1986. It was signed on Dec 17, 1992 by G.H.W. Bush, Prime Minister Mulroney, and President Salinas in San Antonio, Texas. Before NAFTA could be ratified by the respective governments involved, Clinton took office. Clinton signed the final agreement on Jan 1, 1994.

Give the above, just how was it that Newt led the charge for NAFTA???????

Newt is a human weather vane who blows with the wind. He will say and do anything to achieve his political objectives. He lacks core convictions. He will not roll back Big Government. He is a creature of it.

Agreed. Anyone who pulls a boneheaded move and votes for anyone other than the Republican nominee out of some stupid personal statement, will be held responsible for Odumbo getting re-elected and the continued downfall of this country, if it happens.

“This guy’s position on subsidies is ludicrous”

Newt’s position on subsidies is the same as Palin’s so I guess Sarah Palin is now a progressive. In case you are unaware Palin agrees with Newt that since the small oil companies do most of the R&D on oil if the subsidies are ended there won’t be enough exploration going on. On energy Palin tends to know what she’s talking about.

I read the entire transcript of the interview earlier today and for the most part Newt Gingrich has satisfied my questions and concerns. I don’t agree 100% with his views but I don’t agree 100% with any of the other candidate’s views either.

Unless you are a Ron Paul fan you should not have a problem with the Federal govt having enough regulatory control to maintain standards like clean drinking water. Sometimes Federal control is OK. When you buy a bottle of whiskey at the liquor store you can rest assured that it was not distilled with water from a polluted stream or has lead in it. Thats what Newt is talking about.

As far as healthcare goes I think Newt cleared the air on an individual mandate and he is on board with Paul Ryan’s idea of letting people opt for govt paid private insurance premiums instead of Medicare. It would be a lot cheaper and its better to experiment with it first instead of just changing everyone over all at one time.

I got the impression that Beck felt better about Newt after that interview also. Even though he agreed they would have to disagree about some things.

The reality is that we will have 2 choices, go with the republican that gets the nod or Obama for another 4.

Agreed.

On subsidies, however, Gingrich admitted that he was in favor of subsidies for ethanol because they drive out dependence on foreign oil.

Gingrich's support for ethanol over the years has always been a matter of curiousity.

But I recently learned that Callista Gingrich served as the Chief Clerk of the House Committee on Agriculture for about 18 years. In that capacity, she was in charge of setting up many hearings, including on ethanol subsidies and so on.

Ethanol has been the subjrct of intense lobbying over the years and much of that had to have directed at members of the House Agriculture Committee.
