Listening to Dennis Prager talking about his artcile in his third hour. Eric just called and talked about how his mother was murdered in Alabama when he was only 9 years old and what a life sentence her murder had been for him. He didn’t know this, but the murderer was released after serving only 7 years and went on to commit other crimes.

Eventually he was sentenced to life in prison, but came up for parole. The caller, Eric, testified at that hearing. The man was not paroled and died in prison. How horrible for Eric and the memory of his mother that this man’s life wasn’t taken. His mother’s life was only worth 7 years of incarceration for her killer. Eric will have to live with this for the rest of his life.

The next caller was an English sounding woman. Her granddaughter had been murdered by a person known to the victim. He tried to commit suicide, but didn’t die right away—he died a couple of days later. The caller was astounded that the governor would have tried to keep her
granddaughter’s murderer alive.

The last caller, which Dennis had to read his comment because of time, stated that if people were somehow “zapped” or “zotted” to use an FR term as soon as they committed a murder, how many murders would happen?

I do not believe in releasing them, no not at all. Throw away the key if need be, but save the DNA evidence...........

We’re pretty much on the same wavelength. In this case the Guv chooses to selectively enforce the law, from all appearances here...he won’t carry out the executions on the basis of conscience, but would be more than willing to require others to violate their conscience.

Don’t officeholders in Oregon take an oath to uphold the state’s laws? It seems to me this guy has violated the responsibilities of his office and should resign. If he doesn’t do it voluntarily he should be forced to.
