This article doesn't report that flags will be lowered to honor this hood, but they mentioned it on the local tv news story. I've already e-mailed the mayor to express my outrage!

(Insert word "tragedy")
This is what the thug maggot was really like..doing his gang signs.

Julio Cesar Marquez Sr. said he appreciated the support he saw Monday, but he worried about other children in a city he said has changed and become more dangerous. Um, right. It has changed because of people like you that can't control their 13yo sons and keep them from joining gangs.

For context sake, the city of Portland lowers its flags for every child who dies a violent death in the city.

I look forward to hearing Michael Berry expound on this tomorrow when he does his “Portlandia” report.
The demise of this punk just doesn’t manage to tug at my heartstrings somehow.
Lowering our flag for vermin like this is an insult to true Americans.

He could have grown up good if he didn’t have so many dirtbag gangbangers to emulate. Our culture is polluted by the music and imagery of these morons. Half the NBA are hoodlums or cultivate a rap star hoodlum image

I didn’t bother reading this tripe closely...
Was the punk “an aspiring rap artist”?
Or “an aspiring graphic designer”?
To: mockingbyrd
That’s a very pertinent point to have been left out. Thank you for making that known.

“Marquez had several arrests for theft and assault and was on juvenile probation at the time of his death. But his teachers at the Rosi Hinton alternative program in the David Douglas School District described him as a “model student” and said he was polite, well-liked and good at math.”
All that tells me is the kid was smart enough to work the system. I can remember a couple of the “teacher’s pets” back in 8th grade. One of them was among the worst human beings I’ve ever met, even to this day. But he knew how to suck up to the teachers and they all thought he was just peachy.

I know the type very well.

But his teachers at the Rosi Hinton alternative program in the David Douglas School District described him as a "model student" and said he was polite, well-liked and good at math. But he was also very talented with a Filipino butterfly knife or a nine. He was a real Renaissance kid!

So, he was good at math, eh?
That may be but, evidently, he wasn't very good at putting two and two together.
It's kind of hard to succeed in life when you've already got a rap sheet as long as your arm when you're 13 years old.
And, as far as the father lamenting that "we have to stop this", I would say, yo, vato, where were you? Why didn't you tan this kid's hide after his first arrest? What was he doing in a gang in the first place? How many other kids do you have by how many other women who are out there prowling the streets?

I'm sure all the good kids wear ankle bracelets to monitor their movements.

You have rabies if you believe you can control your 13 y/o.
You actually want to go there?
