Tebow has been lucky in many respects. One or two plays here and there and he could be 1-4 instead of 4-1 as a starter. But the bottom line is that he is 4-1. Part of the magic, I believe, is what Tebow brings to the game and to his teammates - hope (not the Obama hope). He is a leader who is making his teammates believe that a team with less talent than many other teams can actually win. He inspires them to give their all because he gives his all. Tim Tebow adds a dimension that can't be readily explained. He makes those around him better. That is a key to success, and I hope it continues.

I’m happy for Tebow...but all this game really shows is that Rex Ryan’s an overrated blowhard. The Jets KNEW what he was gonna do, and they still couldn’t stop it..defensive genius my tuckas...

I like Tebow and I’m tired of every talking head has-been or never-was talking trash about him and making him out to be a joke.

Why is it when a team runs the Wildcat, they’re offensive geniuses but Denver runs it full time and they’re running a “collegiate offense”?

BTW, Mark Sanchez is the worst quarterback I’ve seen leading a major NFL franchise in the my lifetime.

He’s just a terrible passer, has terrible, girlish form on his throws and his release — in fact the only reason he isn’t picked off 5 times a game is that more often that not, neither his receiver nor the defensive back is anywhere near the pass.

Thank you DFU. Excellent insight on an great thread.
Would not trade anything for the memory of the first time Tebow took the field at Florida, or any of the memories since. He is truly an exceptional young man.

May God guide our course.

I get a kick out of all the pundits making comparisons of him to other NFL quarterbacks, and saying “He just doesn’t have what it takes.” Well my question is, after they (the quarterbacks being compared to Tebow) had played a half dozen games were they the picture of perfection that the pundits pretend they were. Heck no, they were rookies and they needed practice, just like Tebow needs practice and can and hopefully will improve on his passing game.

As a Jets fan, I am amazed that Tebow get bashed so much. Mark Sanchez is one of the worst QBs I’ve ever seen. Every Jets victory is usually rescued from the jaws of his pick-6s by the defense. He makes boneheaded, drive-killing mistakes every week. Rex Ryan knows it, but was forced to walk back criticism after a media firestorm. Why? Sanchez SUCKS. Since there is no NFL Triple-A minor leagues, can we instead send Sanchez back to USC for a 5th year of remedial Quarterbacking?

I hope he wins MVP at the Super Bowl and make Pro Life comments in his acceptance speech which cause the New York sportswriting fraternity to choke on their Democrat Voter Registrations.

Football strategy changes over time. A big bruising tailback comes along in college such as Herschel Walker which then sets off a trend towards big bruising tailbacks. Defenses then bulk up accordingly. Then along comes a quick tailback like Emmett Smith to take advantage of the big defenses. More recently, we've seen the impact of QB's that are really decent tailbacks who can throw decent passes.

With Tebow, we have a new trend and that is the fullback who can pass along with a return to 1960's era low scoring style of play.

Tebow has been lucky in many respects.

The harder he works, the luckier he gets.

Am going a bit off topic here, but some NFL player was fined over Veterans Day for dropping to one knee in the end zone and flashing a salute to the veterans in the stands.

Tebow and others drop to one knee and utter a silent prayer.
No penalty for that - not yet anyway - am sure it is coming.

I will never understand all these idiotic end-zone antic penalties ( to supposedly prevent celebratory acts or taunting and teasing - aw the poor little things )

Is there really a NFL rule that says you can’t salute on one knee. What if you drop to one knee, make the sign of the cross, and render a salute?

It isn’t just his accuracy when throwing the football that is a weakness. It’s his ability to read a defense after the snap or to shift off of the primary receiver.

He had some better options other than the primary receiver on at least three pass plays. I remember at least two occasions where his tight end was wide open in the middle of the field for a easy six yard gain and Tebow didn’t seem to notice.

Right now, he is a John Fourcade type QB. Fall back, look to see if the primary receiver is covered and then run was the style if I remember. Granted he has more athletic ability, but he won’t be anymore successful than John Fourcade was long term.

Tebow completed 66.4% of his passes in four years at Florida. There was no talk of what a bad passer he was in college. He probably had better receives in college than he has at Denver. Three are now in the NFL: Harvin at Minnesota, Hernandez at New England, and his roommate who’s now with the Eagles. Plus he had other good receivers.

Things are faster and different in many ways in the NFL. But during the long post-game show on the NFL Network they talked to John Elway and showed Elway’s stats for the same number of first starts as Tebow has now had. Tebow’s passing stats were better than Elway’s.

If they keep playing Tebow and improve the pass protection many might be surprised at what sort of QB he becomes, plus if he can continue to utilize his running and not have serious injuries, lots of folks might end up eating huge servings of crow.

Tebow has had only one turnover since starting for the Broncos. That is very important plus as a starter he has a better record than John Elway did when Ekway’s career started...

I haven't watched whole games with Tebow, but the description does not sound THAT different from Elway's early years. There is a big difference in raw arm strength and accuracy, Elway was one of the best. This led to great expectations being put upon Elway, unlike Tebow.

But Elway spent his first couple of seasons getting sacked constantly. Elway was not an in the pocket passer, his early days was constant scrambling to avoid sacks. He only stayed in the pocket after he was worn down by injuries, and had an offensive line that could protect him. Elway developed a "sixth sense" of knowing when to get out of the pocket before he was sacked, which he later revealed he was watching the shadows on the field, and if he saw one that shouldn't be where it was, he ran.

What's going in Tebow's favor is that he is winning and learning how to win, and that gives him time to get the experience he needs.

Now, in order to totaly mess with everyone's heads, they need to working in plays where he is the receiver.

I just wrote this little ditty for a heavy hip-hop sound. I reserve all rights to it.

Tebow Time
1
They said he couldn’t make it when Timmy was a tad,
But his momma wouldn’t listen cuz a doc’s O was bad.
They said she couldn’t keep him cuz the outlook was so sad.
But she prayed, “help me have him, Lord; he’ll make the people glad.”
Protected by her faith till her last birth moan,
It became his inspiration for his trips into the Zone.
They said he wouldn’t win his quest to be a QB,
Even when a player in the little leagues of Pee Wee.

Chorus (after each verse)
To win is not as much about aptitude or skill,
As it is about imposing on others your will.

2
They said he wouldn’t draft as a Round One Pro
Yet McDaniels came a-calling for the Timmy Tebow.
The chooser got fired and the next one said, “no!”,
To lining up Timmy for the Prime Time Show.
He didn’t listen to their nay-saying opinionship
And he won his way to vict’ry all the way to National Championship.
He signed a big contract worth whole lotta dough,
Waited round to prove he had an NFL throw.

3
Timmy gave no thought to all the negativity,
and kept his wits about him, with great humility.
When fans got a glimpse of his leadership glow
They told Old Fox he better get back his mojo.
Hearing fans calling for the big heave-ho,
Fox said he’d just get up and go with the flow.
Elway didn’t like it cuz he wanted Stanford’s Luck,
He backstabbed the kid, but Timmy Tebow stuck
For the end of every game which Fox would let him start
To prove to the critics wrong. He was winning game smart.
From AFC basement into Play-off contention,
NFL experts had analysis dissention.
Winning those games Broncos were s’posed to lose
People started kneeling down wherever they chose.
Getting face-booked in Tim’s prayerful pose,
Became a world phenomenon—touching your nose.

5
So the Jets took to Mile-High the defense head,
Who wrote a book to stop the option in its tracks, dead.
Less than 60 seconds Denver’s twenty yards out,
Tim left Leonhard in his dust and Ryan to pout.
If you still are not sure of what to think of Tebow,
Look up at the board, see the win or loss sco’.
When John, Dan and Joe meet Tim, in Canton’s Hall of Fame,
They’ll say that from the start they knew Tim Tebow had game.
